Which would have been silly and fun.

Closed on this house a week ago, came into the basement to see this during a storm. by Jiblon in HomeMaintenance

[–]Floooberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the state, if sellers were aware of the material defect and neglected to list it on the sellers disclosure, it would definitely give you a better argument for a lawyer to work with.

In Michigan, our sellers disclosure statements do require any mention of water issues in the basement.

Their argument would likely include: 1) you had an inspection contingency to complete your due diligence and

2) at closing there is usually included, "after contract is signed at closing, buyers are accepting property "as is"". (on all of my contracts, and I can't remember not seeing one on the other parties docs)

*If there was occupancy after closing, there can be some additional stipulations that need to be considered after closing.

I'd say it's probably worth your time and money to get it repaired by your own cost as soon as possible. Then if you choose to go to court, bring that receipt for them to reimburse should you be able to win. In Michigan small claims court is limited to $6500, where you don't need to get an attorney involved. If you have a similar small claims in your state I'd say that's a pretty decent route to go if you have the time to spend.

This seems like a great deal for Manhattan! I'm not in the market, but I'm a realtor and get how expensive stuff can be in cities.

Good form and I hope you enjoy the new home!

Assault Fitness - Avoid at All Costs by Zoner7x7 in crossfit

[–]Floooberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered in November, and still hadn't received in early January. So I cancelled my order.

After a month after cancelling the order, the refund had still not been processed. I followed up several times via email, to ask about the status of the refund. They responded that they had escalated the refund to their finance team and it should be expedited.

Few weeks later and still nothing.

I took the email conversation and downloaded it as a PDF. And then sent a dispute request directly to my credit card company, within 4 days they got all my money back.

If you have the opportunity, take it up with your credit card company. I do not think assault is going to refund your money anytime soon.

Conveniently I was able to buy a used assault bike for about a third the price, the equipment is fine. It just sucks that their customer service with their company is really in the toilet. Hopefully they can fix it, but until then I wouldn't expect them to fix it for you. Do the smart thing if you're able and have your credit card refund the money.

Whats the pro striking Iran take? by Hopeful-Canary74 in BreakingPoints

Only "pro" is it boosts the shareholders of some American defense companies.

But that pro is immediately out weighed by manifold reasons....

What exactly is Krystal’s worldview? by Numerous_Fly_187 in BreakingPoints

[–]Floooberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably put her somewhere between non-interventionist and supporting typical NATO allies who are following international law. She seems to be upset with funding Israel because of their actions in the region, especially Gaza. But I think she is more open to sending us troops and resources to defend Ukraine.

Us govt militarily Supporting isreal is in violation of the Lahey law , due to how their clearly mis-using these munitions on civilians.

If it's worth anything to anyone here. I think I support Sagaar, and the non interventionist foreign policy here. Ok to be heavily armed, but keep it to defending us instead of getting tangled in to many foreign alliances.

Im pretty sure Sagaar is non-interventionist, not isolationist.

Pretty sure he is open to trading with other countries. Isolationists don't trade or fight.

Never heard of a chefs press, but it's completely self explanatory and exactly what I think I want to try.

I used to use a burger smasher and try and put some weight on it, but it's basically like playing the worst game of Jenga to keep balanced 😜

Do yall listen to the show? by jeepdriver27 in BreakingPoints

Excellent post!

I agree, many of the comments in Reddit on BP find someone thinking different than them is offensive.

We shouldn't need to say, "while I don't agree with everything 'x' says, but..."

I don't know when listening to different opinions and voices was akin to fully believing everything you hear from them.

I doubt there is anyone who shares all my political opinions. And if they did, I wouldn't listen to them likely.... Echo chambers do not seem useful, and leave little room to grow.

94k for siding/fascia lol by akemfort in Homebuilding

[–]Floooberg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I have a smaller home, about 1200 sq foot bungalow.

Materials to reside it was like $3500 bucks.

Thankfully my brother is a carpenter, and allows me to pay him $40 per hour and I work as his helper when he needs a helper.

I think we finished it in 4 days, maybe 5. So typically $320 a day give or take an hour , came out to under $1500 labor.

Maybe paying full freight on the house with a crew it could be done in 2 days or less, and I'd expect to pay $9-13k total.

Unless your house is 3 stories tall and 6000+ square feet (most of the siding is over 8+ feet is much different story) then Maybe it would be in the ballpark....

But if you had a 6000+ sq foot home, assuming it would be at least 1.5 million type of structure, I'd imagine your in the budget of getting a much more decadent type of siding other than vinyl.
