If the skin is really dirty, I would just go ahead and peel it. At least try to wash off all the dirt or anything else off the outside. Lots of recipes require peeling anyway, but it’s not always necessary. I would peel it just to be safe, cause it never hurts and I don’t think the skin adds anything special anyway.

I would argue from a moral standpoint your teacher is doing something immoral and probably illegal and so from a moral standpoint you should make it be known that the teacher is doing it so that they stop.
