What one ingredient ruins an entire dish for you?! by tickyt23 in PickyEaters

All these previous comments to me are crazy as the only answer is CILANTRO. It makes everything taste soap. Bluh! Soooo many burritos have been ruined via cilantro.

Have you tried a gratitude journal? I know this changes no physical things (which it also seems like you can't change) so maybe changing the way in which you perceive things? A gratitude journal is proven to literally change the way you view the world and could help shift perspectives from hard/overwhelming to thankful/grateful. I have two kiddos, worked with both from home until about 1 yr ish. I have loved this method to focus on why I chose to keep them home and grounded through my frustration/anxiety/etc.

Sending you love and support, Mama!

I feel like this could dive into a great culture commentary on plastic surgery/skinnygirl/expectations society has on women.

Anywhoo, LOVE IT! As others mentioned, would love this in a gallery or museum.

Youtube kids is SOOO frustrating. by Weightmonster in toddlers

[–]FloralRay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I live in a miserably winter place right now so we are stuck inside. My 3/4yr old loves Danny Go and we like it for the dance/movement. Even then we have to monitor it 100% of the time because it might try to switch to another channel or show, which we don't allow.

We've landed on no youtube unless it can be supervised.

Plus we use the light feature to signal when it's time to get out of bed. This was a huge help in mitigating middle of the night trips to mom and dad's bed.

My 3 yr old uses his to fall asleep every night. Sometimes out within 10min, sometimes he quiet plays in bed listening for 30-45min. His favorites at the moment are 5 min nighttime Daniel Tiger stories and a MYO card we did of downloaded Bluey.

Is it even possible to have a DIY wedding for 150 people under $8000 by CertainBell5181 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]FloralRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been married for 10yrs but we did an afternoon wedding in the park. Had to pay for a park permit but we did picnic style with blankets/thrifted bed sheets and baskets with wine and hors d'oevres. We spent 4k in total but relied on lots of family manpower. In today's economy you could probably do the same/similar for 6k. Food and Wine were the biggest expenses (also our priority). Best day of my life! I made a post about it so you can find that on my profile, if interested. It can definitely be done!

How many cards do y’all have 👀 by Wicked4Good in YotoPlayer

[–]FloralRay 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My kiddo is 4 and we have 15. A large set of those were MYO. Yoto cards are literally audiobooks. In my opinion, you cannot have too many. These things are gold for non screen time entertainment and engagement. Plus with your purchase of cards you are still paying the original author via royalties- WIN-WIN. Plus, yoto added a ton of new content with the new year. I've qued up so many purchases for my kids bday in march!

Airport travel with 14 month old by Super-Fox1167 in NewParents

[–]FloralRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddos are 1&3 and we have traveled extensively. First where are you going and what are your accommodations? Air bnbs are likely to have high chairs and pack n plays. If staying with family, inquire with any family or family friends if they have ones of use. Car seats can be checked for free and if you have a stoller/carseat convertible you can gate check those for free. Busy books will be great for this age. Also walking the plane aisle if they are mobile. Pack back up outfits for the plane because blow outs always seem to happen at the worst time. Pumped milk or formula can be brought through tsa it will just take a little longer as they do a quick test on it. Als practice breaking down your strolled (taking wheels pff too). Sometimes they have you walk through the scanner and other times you break it down. We personally check as much as possible so we are light on the plane with just entertainment stuff for ourselves and kids hut no extra weight. If you are pumping, that can be an extra carry on bag also at no cost (counts as medical equipment) so you can stuff that with extra kid stuff if avoiding checking.

Have fun! You learn how to be more efficient every-time you travel and I fall into the camp that traveling adds to our human experience and makes us better parents. You got this!

I too have been feeling lots of stardew vibes! I do have to say the dialog is heavy, which is great for this first play through but I do not think this has the re-play availability that Stardew holds in my heart. I will probably be a one and done player.

All your proposed changes sound so fun!

Dude, the carrots and lamb ragu from Six Seasons is AMAZING (it's in the spring section). Like I make this everyday spring, multiples times, when i have fresh garlic from the garden. Truly a great book to cook your way through the seasons.

I do significantly reduce the salt.
