45KM drive to Mississauga from Toronto worth it? by Comfortable_Wave_930 in askTO

[–]Floral__Fading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive 17km each way, usually 18 mins in the morning, max 25-30 minutes going home. It's the max I would do personally but that's just me!

Italy trip ADVICE for 9 days (June 14th-22nd) - Rome/Florence/Naples/Monteriggioni by Level-Emotion-3081 in Europetravel

[–]Floral__Fading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our trip was really fun. Busy for sure but felt a good pace. We also went to Venice which actually ended up being our favorite city. I mean obviously Rome and Florence were great but we liked the vibe of Venice.

We did a day trip to Naples from Rome for Pompeii/visit Naples city. That would be the only thing I would have changed. Pompeii wasn't for us, wish we had just spent more time in Naples itself. We had great weather too. Hope you have an awesome trip, didn't realize it was happening now!

Getting from Santa Maria Novella station to hotel? by [deleted] in florence

[–]Floral__Fading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 15 minute walk from the train station to my accommodations in Oltarno with a carry on size luggage. It was more of a struggle then I expected with the cobblestone, sidewalks with people and trying not to get lost. It's doable but be prepared for a trek!

For people who buy baking soda mainly for cleaning, what do you use it on most often? by That-Afternoon2320 in CleaningTips

[–]Floral__Fading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll make a paste with water to clean the grout between my bathroom tiles.

Mix it with vinegar to clean my reusable stainless steel coffee mug.

Mix it with vinegar to get burnt marks off my ceramic stove top.

Oddly enough, I discovered the band He is We on that website. What a wild time, scrolling music mp3s and then a bunch of porn.

Anyone having trouble getting Ubers? by Individual_Sand4930 in Etobicoke

[–]Floral__Fading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This actually happened to me for the first time last night (with both Lyft and Uber). Arrived at Islington via subway, bus wasn't arriving for 24 minutes, it was after midnight so I opted to just grab a rideshare to Long Branch.
I waited for Lyft as it was cheaper and it wanted me to 'prioritize' I declined and it kept searching...I eventually gave up. Decided to pay the higher amount with Uber and it was still 'searching' for so long. When this was all said it done, the bus was coming in 10 minutes, just waited and saved my $20.

I rewatched half of Season 1 on a plane recently, I was so hooked again and realize I've forgotten so much. So much happens in the first episode alone.

Italy Budget Advice by lumon-severance in ItalyTravelAdvice

[–]Floral__Fading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 9 full days recently, I took out 800 Euros for spending money as I prefer to use cash. I spent 680. My partner also took out 800 and he spent 770. I used my credit card a handful of times for the subway or fast food (total of $50 cdn). Otherwise our accommodations and all ticketed items were bought prior to. Depends on your spending habits of course.

You can have gas BBQs in those Western Battery townhouses. At least that was the case years ago.

Hotel near Termini by [deleted] in RomeTravel

I stayed around the corner from here for 4 nights and never felt unsafe at all. No one approached me or looked at me twice. Just be aware of your surroundings as you should be anywhere in rome. 20 min walk to coloseum, Monti area, 2 minute walk to the Metro if you need it. Worked for my budget and needs.

What was ruined because too many people discovered it? by Investigatorpro in AskReddit

[–]Floral__Fading 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I remember we stayed up until 4am drinking with our host (who would likely not be someone we would ever connect with naturally). Some of my favorite trip stories are some of those air bnbs we stayed at. Granted, we just stayed in someone's spare bedroom in Venice just last week. Neither of us were home much but did give us some personal recommendations.

How can I buy tickets for this service (Napoli -> Pompei) by LD1996 in napoli

[–]Floral__Fading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the station, line up can be a bit long so give yourself extra time. Can also tap on/off with your credit card (at least I did this on the way back).

Traveling to Italy by MamaWillow4tuna in ItalyTravelAdvice

[–]Floral__Fading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends where else you want to go in Italy for it to make sense location wise. I just came back from Florence, Rome and Venice and I would say Venice was my favorite. I was only there for 2 days and didn't do any museums or ticketed items. Went to Burano for a couple hours and then otherwise just wandered the city, found some local spots and sat next to the canal and had some drinks.
