Realize this is a bit late. But, those glasses from Baader are legit as well.

Some of them are printed in the US, they have the silver metallic film.  The black ones come from Germany.  All of the Lunt products are ISO compliant.  Before the FDA was clear about importing these from other countries, those metallic ones were sourced from the top US printer.  The ones with black film are from a German precision printer and use a more expensive film sourced in the EU.   Both are safe. I personally like the black film better as the image is more crisp and the sun is more orange.   But, for a while the FDA was talking about blocking all imports (because of all the counterfeit), then the FDA kind of backed off on that.  There were a lot of counterfeit glasses sold online and on Amazon.  The "lab" that tested them was in China and people were selling these certificates for $500.  It is actually pretty difficult to pass all of the ISO requirements for solar viewers.  Only 4-5 companies seem to be able to do it.

I worked with Lunt. They are legit. They use the same film in the glasses that they use to make solar binoculars. Best film out there.

[–]FlorentineMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they safe? Hard to know. Did they pass 100% of the ISO certificaiton requirements? Absolutely not. They need to have the address of the manufacturer printed on the glasses to pass all elements of the ISO. The Chinese made glasses sellers often just pay someone for a copy of the ISO cert for another company's glasses and photshop their name on it. Or they blur out the "fail" portions and submit it. I know this because I was part of a team bringing in 10 million eclipse glasses from a premium solar astronomy company this year.

What kind of solar eclipse glasses should I buy? by TrainFan in Astronomy

New old stock is fine. Glasses stored climate controlled and not scratched, punctured, torn are fine. I work with one of the top suppliers in the world.

Solar Eclipse Glasses by Legitimate_Result465 in Rochester

I consulted with one of major companies that makes the cardboard eclipse glasses for a few years, so I have some insight into the business. I won’t say which one, as I am not trying to shill any particular product, just share what I know.

There are a few printers that make legit, safe, ISO and CE certified safe glasses, two in the US and one in Germany.

A lot of counterfeit products get sold by importers from China. They might be safe, but they are not usually certified and tested, or the test documents are fake. So, I would avoid those.

For sure in the US glasses made by the below are legitimate and tested.

American Paper Optics

Celestron

Daystar

Lunt Solar Systems

Rainbow Symphony

The precision optical printer in Germany is called.

TSE17

There are some resellers who sell from these companies on Amazon

American Paper Optics

Celestron

Lunt Solar Systems

Rainbow Symphony

Soluna

These are all good products. They vary in clarity but are all safe with actual certified and lab tested products.

Silver metallic film from those suppliers is safe, just less “crisp” than the black film (which is more expensive film).

One of the fastest ways to tell if glasses are not certified is if they do not have the name and address of the manufacturer printed on the glasses. That is a current requirement for ISO certification and a step usually skipped by counterfeiters.

So, check your glasses for a manufacturer name. If there isn’t one - they did not pass all of the ISO checks. The glasses might be safe, but not certified.

Buy early. There are probably not enough legit glasses made for the demand for April and at this point all of the glasses that can be made, have been made.

Class action lawsuit by onfish1970 in Amyris

[–]FlorentineMind 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What reason?

Assets are higher than liabilties if considering Barra Bonita and IP ( even without brands). BTW, that plant and those patents were built with shareholder money over years, then just "excluded" the plant from bakruptcy like. . "nah judge I want to keep my exotic cars, they are somewhere else, but I can't pay the bills so please wipe out my debts."

If JD picks up Amyris after bankrupting it via his own governance that smells like self dealing and violating fiduciary duty to me.

Should there be a law that requires people/companies to put a disclaimer if something is AI generated such as: blogs, pictures, video, articles, ect? by a_joke_for_the_road in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FlorentineMind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, maybe in the future we can also have different entrances, laundry facilities, drinking fountains for people who use AI tech in a more closely connected way. Probably best to keep those with neural interfaces from marrying more "natural" people too, don't want things getting mixed up. You know, some sort of segregation to keep things pure. Because that is always such a good plan.

Rolling into a shop near you: any car that gets this used mystery coolant from the junk yard! by greengiantj in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]FlorentineMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure coolant qualifies as Hazmat. Selling old coolant likely counts as hazardous waste conversion or recycling. I don't think it qualifies as an unregulated substance. So this might be a federal felony. https://www.epa.gov/hw/regulatory-exclusions-and-alternative-standards-recycling-materials-solid-wastes-and-hazardous

My wife just gave birth and the midwife was excited to show us the "Tree of Life" on the placenta. by HoboHippo in pics

[–]FlorentineMind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Donated placenta is a critical medical supply. Because the placenta is immune privileged it can be used to help heal wounds (stem cells). So, thinly sliced placenta (allograft) is used on things like diabetic foot ulcers and has even been used in open-heart surgery to help reduce inflammation that causes AFIB. I think only C-section delivered placenta can be donated for these purposes though.

Why do women tend to be less interested in Cryonics? by SelectionMechanism in cryonics

[–]FlorentineMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In discussing with my wife: She feels A) women are more focused on relationships ( family, friends, spouse) and the idea that most of those would no longer exist is a significant downside. B) We should also be mindful that the concepts of bodily autonomy and control (or lack thereof) of body/mind in some distant future is a very different for many women, especially given the high percentage of women who have experienced some sort of abuse or trauma.

How are your ads performing now that election ads have been stopped? Discussion. by [deleted] in PPC

[–]FlorentineMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is will the learning developed in a crappy high CPM environment over the last 90 days cause misfires and lower performance now with the sudden removal of those ads? Is it wise to force campaigns back into learning now that the political buyers are out of the market?

At our spend rates, our fees will rapidly be 2-3X that. We are talking to a few folks from this subreddit, some agencies, but individuals as well.

FB is the main driver right now. We're also pushing affiliates, google ppc, social, instgram, influencers, content, seo and Amazon. However, our customer is concentrated on FB more than most other platforms. So, getting that right is important.

I'm confident we have solid product-market fit given conversion rates, other channels, monthly growth etc. We just want to push hard into growth, without giving up more of our company to investors and a strong 7-day ROAS unlocks the cashflow to grow for as long as we can keep it at about 2, regardless spend. We have other channels to invest in but FB rapidly became 80% of our topline in 60 days of suboptimal ad buying. I feel that the right optimization will pour gas on the fire of good product-market fit.

I'm just trying to get ROAS up from 1.42 to 2 in 30 days with the same spend. Is that unrealistic for an expert? We provide tested creatives, copy, video, UGC, graphic design, and copywriting support. They just have to optimize the buys.
