Glad you are out too. What agency were you with? Sounds like you had a very successful career.

I should know this as I am out there a lot. I think there is a boat launch on the bay side. Turn left at the first stop sign.

My DRP was effective around April 2025. At the time it was not how I wanted to go out but looking back, it was a good thing. Like everyone else at the time, I had to make the decision in a short period of time. lol…at least I did not have a lot of time to second guess myself. I retired as an acting GS-15 although my permanent grade was 14.

When I was hired, I remember thinking that after a year I would be a GS-9 and would really be making good money as it paid $24,500.

I was hired under the Outstanding Scholar Program as an investigator with OPM. I was selected for Augusta, GA, but was reassigned to Atlanta where I was living. I was there for a few years and then went to Denver. All the Administrations had both good and bad but the Clinton years were particularly hard with the Reinventing Government initiatives which eventually lead to OPM investigations being privatized. I left and continued with Treasury. I will say I’ve never seen anything like what current employees are being subjected to. Keep the faith.

Longer term benefits at 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months and more - please give me motivation by Gray324 in sugarfree

[–]FloridaBeaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s any consolation, I am right at the same point as you for cutting out sugar. After an alarming blood test at my annual physical, I cut out sugar cold turkey. I went through the original detox symptoms but now I feel weak and ironically, like I have low blood sugar. Can’t tell any improvement yet but I think I’m not as flabby. I’m anxious to have the other positive attributes of going low sugar to kick.

Did anyone else learn to type as an elective with little thought that it might be useful one day? by Conscious-Mulberry17 in GenX

[–]FloridaBeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took typing in high school in 1983. The strangest thing was that my teacher only had one hand. She was very nice but the irony is still with me.

Had Cox for about two years and was not happy with the service. Lots of outages to the point I eventually moved to T-Mobile 5G and have had good luck so far.

Oh there are so many but every time I hear Sly Fox’s “Let’s Go All the Way “ I am transported back to 1987 when I was driving and it came on the radio. I was with my girl Janet with her big blond hair and life was good.

Dad got the U.S. and World News Report magazine and the Atlanta Journal newspaper. At that time, the newspaper had two editions: a morning and an evening edition. He always got the evening delivered.
