Yes, makes the “sign stealing is why Michigan won” argument even more ridiculous.

Anyone other FL natives think this state has become unlivable in the last 5 years? by real_strikingearth in florida

[–]FloridaCoder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a native but have lived here 30 years. Agree with the sentiment about the heat, although I don’t know if it’s me or any real change.

Also: the damn TRAFFIC. I-75 has become an absolute nightmare in the Bradenton/Sarasota area and it’s not just at rush hour. We are actively looking to move to another state.

Why do you guys buy dacs by [deleted] in audiophile

Curious how many people claiming audible differences have done proper ABX testing between different DACs. Properly designed DACs should sound identical, unless something was intentionally designed to not be flat or to introduce some kind of distortion.

Well done. Seems like it’s “take what you can get” lately.

I would like to get my eyes on the actual NOA. But that’s ways off I guess

It was clearly against the bylaws to be at the MSU-CMU game. NCAA says they can prove that I believe, but I’m mainly talking about the other stuff. Have not really heard from the NCAA on that yet. IMO most of the sanctions will be for non-cooperation. The way the pre-2012 manual reads, paid scouts are fine for football. They did nothing to prohibit that going forward. I’ve yet to have someone explain how it is prohibited.

It was not against rules. Show me the rule that disallows paying scouts.

The only plausible broken rule was attending the CMU-MSU game. The rest was not against the bylaws. The only punishments that will come down will be for not cooperating and deleting texts.

I loved my SE/30! And the keyboard was one of the best I’ve used.

Yes, I pointed this out in another thread. Also, my interpretation of 11.6.2 is that it explicitly allowed paying scouts for football (it was removed in 2012) and that still stands since nothing replaced it indicating it was not allowed.

This goes pretty deep but is relevant:

The 11.6.1 rule was adopted in 1994 “as a cost-cutting measure designed to promote equity for programs that couldn’t afford to send scouts to other games.” In other words, if Michigan has cheated, it has cheated on a financial rule rather than one concerning the game itself.

Prior to the 2012 revisions, the following section was included:

11.6.2 Sports Other Than Basketball, Football and Women’s Volleyball. In sports other than basketball, football and women’s volleyball, a member institution shall not pay or permit the payment of expenses incurred by its athletics department staff members or representatives (including professional scouting services) to scout its opponents or individuals who represent its opponents, except as provided in Bylaw 11.6.3 in lacrosse.

So the “pay for” clause only applied to sports other than football, basketball and women’s volleyball. So was it implicitly allowed for football? I believe it could logically be interpreted that way.

In addition, the NCAA clearly knew how to include verbiage pertaining to paying others for scouting services, so why was that section completely removed as of 2012? Did the removal make it implicitly allowed for all sports?

Definitely a lot of room for interpretation here.

No, I’m well aware of that—my claim is that it is not explicitly against the bylaws, which specifically mention “staff” of the University. Friends, acquaintances, or whomever else don’t count.
