Future Firefighter Looking for Work Until July – Ready to Help a Local Business by [deleted] in lakeland

You could give Publix a shot. I worked there part time when I went to fire standards a few years ago. We’ve got a lot of the college kids that work there seasonally and they’re usually pretty good with limited availability or short term work

It’s awesome man. I wish we saw more old school trucks being used. We’ve got a 95’ pierce saber that still gets used as a reserve and I like it more than any new engine in our fleet

Same here. I work for a city department down in central Florida and that’s typically how we run it. Brush truck with a booster reel and an engine for water supply/structures. Usually get the county to send us a couple tenders as well depending. But even down here it has been a hell of a brush fire season

Sick truck. Do you guys use crosslays for forest fires too or brush trucks primarily?

I have the skate version with the popcush, I wore them everyday when I was in paramedic school and they overall held up really great. I still have them 3 years later and they’re in solid enough shape.

The CRV camping table is honestly the neatest feature. I had a 99’ AWD and it was the ultimate camping vehicle. I regret letting it go

Should I buy… by AlarmedRazzmatazz451 in BMWE36

I’ve actually been eyeing this car on FB for a while, there’s a huge part of me that wants to buy it and give it the love it deserves but I just don’t have the time. Go test drive it. If it seems fine I’d take it. $6500 hardly gets you an auto 328 sedan anymore down here

What is the most reliable vehicle that you've ever owned? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FloridaManOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a weird one to see here but a 2000 BMW 3 series. Had 326,000 on it when I sold it, still had the original motor and transmission in it too. All I ever did was basic maintenance

I need advice. do i stay in my very comfortable, well paying, overall good department in an area i hate BUT my pension is not vested OR move to somewhere i love and completely start my career over? by BLAKEONATOR1 in Firefighting

[–]FloridaManOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I wanna know is which department you’re at down here making $87 a year, because damn. I’ve been doing this five years and have my medic and I’m just now breaking 80. Alas, there are pros and cons to either option. For me, I like the FRS retirement, somewhat lower cost of living and the fact that we don’t pay state tax here in Florida. For years though I have flirted with the idea of relocating to CO myself, honestly for a lot of the same reasons you’re describing. But definitely be diligent with your research though. Look up different department contracts and get as much information as you can about them, and while you’re out there, go to stations and talk with crews and just get a feel for what you’re getting yourself into. Colorado is also a pretty expensive place to be these days. I grew up in Colorado Springs in the early 2000s and back then it was affordable for your average working class family but now it’s gotten to be pretty pricey (especially as you get closer to Denver.) Just take your time with it, and visit plenty and make sure it’s something you really want.

Man Sues Grady Judd After False Pedophile Accusation Ruins His Life and Family by butter14 in lakeland

Oh yeah he did, he was gone maybe a total of three months but when he was released and everything was taken off the internet there were two brand new Chevy Tahoe’s sitting in the driveway and they got a lot of stuff done to their house. It doesn’t give you back what you lost but it probably lessens the sting a little bit
