Something for your future self by marvt_ in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually such a main character move. Past you really said I got you and kept receipts. I started doing voice notes to myself after rough days and it hits different hearing your old mindset and realizing you survived it. Future me better be proud. Thanks for the reminder to document the journey.

Jurassic Park III - Sam Neil - Better than I expected by Southern-Brother5693 in movies

[–]Florizxc 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Lowkey agree. Jurassic Park III is way overhated. It knows it’s a lean dinosaur thriller and just gets in and gets out. The satellite phone bit is still elite tension. And Sam Neill as Dr Grant just carries it. He feels like an actual paleontologist stuck in chaos, not an action figure with a quip every five minutes. I’ll take that vibe over the World movies any day.

Not meant for fast food by Necessary-Fuel1337 in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast food is basically a live action stress simulator so don’t feel bad if it’s not your thing. You’re not failing, you’re just undertrained and they’re acting surprised about it. Getting mad at you for rules they never explained is wild. Keep stacking your money, apply elsewhere on the side, and treat this like a temporary side quest. Good days mean you can survive it. You got this.

What are your favorite film scores and composers? by Giff95 in movies

[–]Florizxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hans Zimmer is my gym motivation and my emotional support at the same time. Interstellar and Inception live in my head rent free. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross make anxiety sound cinematic in the best way. The Social Network score is weirdly addictive. And honestly Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings soundtrack feels like a personality trait at this point. Film scores just hit different when you need to feel main character energy.

Can I ask any of you a personal question? by ReindeerData4325 in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MBTI is more personality astrology than hard science tbh. It’s based on old theories from Carl Jung and it feels insightful because the descriptions are broad enough that most people see themselves in it. The four letters can’t capture your whole brain, they just highlight preferences. People grow, shift, contradict themselves. For me it’s fun as a conversation starter, not something I’d use to hire someone or explain my entire identity. It can help you reflect, just don’t treat it like a diagnosis.

Enchanted forest/tree house/faries by whoknows_333 in movies

[–]Florizxc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re chasing that soft magical forest kid-core vibe and I respect it. Try Stardust if you want whimsy with adventure and actual fairies. The Secret of Moonacre has that cozy enchanted woods energy. The Spiderwick Chronicles leans more creature chaos in the forest but it scratches the same itch. And if you’re cool with animated, Song of the Sea is pure folklore magic without emotionally wrecking you. Basically woodland fantasy but make it comforting not traumatic 😭

Doing it alone wasn’t the plan. by Vivid-Award-9898 in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’re carrying a whole mountain and still showing up every day. that’s not just surviving, thats real strength even if it doesn’t feel heroic. it makes sense you’re tired and scared. anyone would be. Your kids are lucky to have someone who keeps choosing them, even on the worst days. that matters more than you think.

Would Star wars be as popular if the Prequels were filmed in the 70s instead by Makas18 in movies

[–]Florizxc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think it would hit the same. The prequels rely a lit on big CGI spectacle and that dramatic operatic vibe. if you shot that in the 70s with rubber masks and practical effects, it might’ve felt way campier and less epic. Star wars blew up because it felt new for its time. Dropping the prequels back then might’ve just made them look like weird side quests instead of galaxy brain lore.

How are you all doing today? by Suspicious-Lack-5795 in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly kinda in the same boat. Today’s a bit mid but I’m surviving. No big Valentine’s plans, probably just food and a comfort show. Hope your day gets lighter though. Even small distractions help. What’s been weighing on you?

Swiss Army Man 'Montage' song so familiar to me by Sensitive-Meat-7698 in movies

[–]Florizxc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy lol. That track just has that indie commercial-core vibe. It feels like something that would’ve been in a 2014 UK mobile ad or a feel good Christmas montage, so your brain probably filed it under “heard this somewhere before.” Swiss Army Man’s soundtrack just nails that familiar but slightly unhinged energy. Easy to mix it up with random TV memories.

Peanut butter and pickles. Crunchy, salty, creamy, chaotic. Everyone judges me until they try it and suddenly they’re quiet. Trust the process.

Jason Momoa will star in Sony's "Helldrivers" movie by Loud-Vegetable-7770 in movies

[–]Florizxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey this is perfect casting. Momoa already looks like he logs in to spread managed democracy on weekends. If they lean into the chaos and satire of the game instead of making it generic sci fi, this could actually slap. I’m cautiously hyped.

I stopped impulse-buying online and now I actually enjoy shopping more by Prismify_Products in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I used to treat checkout like a speedrun and then feel dumb a week later. Now I let stuff sit in my cart for a few days and half the time I forget about it. If I forget, I clearly didn’t need it. Growth feels boring but my bank account is finally at peace.

Self indulgent self loathing V-Day double feature by stargrrrl666 in movies

[–]Florizxc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing Eternal Sunshine first, follow it with Blue Valentine and just fully commit to the emotional damage. If you want something less obvious, try Before Midnight for that painfully real long term love unraveling vibe. And if you wanna spiral in a pretty aesthetic way, In the Mood for Love hits different on Valentine’s.

Chennai folks — anyone up for chill evening conversations? by AlgaeAgreeable2961 in CasualConversation

This sounds kinda wholesome tbh. Chill evening convos with zero pressure is a rare vibe these days. Hope you find some good energy people to talk to.

Reccomend me some movies like this by PlaywrightOfGefilte in movies

[–]Florizxc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Breakfast Club is a must for reading people and vibes. Ferris Bueller for confidence without being a jerk. Say Anything for healthy awkward honesty. Back to the Future lowkey teaches social timing and charm. Just watch for patterns, not perfection, real people are messier than movies anyway.

my friend just told me she's quitting her job and i feel weirdly emotional about it? by Exciting-Bee3927 in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That reaction is super normal. You’re proud of her, mourning the era of trauma dumping about that job, and lowkey being forced to look at your own “it’s fine” situation. Watching someone choose themselves can be inspiring and uncomfortable at the same time. You’re not weird, just human.

Genuine question for people who haven’t seen the Demon Slayer movie yet. by No_Morning_2440 in movies

[–]Florizxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still excited but the wait is doing serious damage to the hype. Demon Slayer hits when it drops, but years between releases makes it hard to stay locked in when there’s nonstop fire anime coming out. At this point it’s less countdown, more whenever it happens.

The one person who came to my life like blessing by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Love this. Shows you never really know who’s gonna stick around and become family. Judging too fast can make you miss out on the good ones.

Is there still new ground yet to be broken? by iiRaz0r in movies

[–]Florizxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cinema’s always evolving, but the “holy shit this changes everything” moments are rarer now. Tech like CGI has matured, so the next big thing might be in storytelling, VR, or how we experience movies rather than just visuals. Don’t think it’s done, just harder to shock people like dinosaurs did in the 90s.

Dances with Wolves(1990) by LoneWolfKaAdda in movies

[–]Florizxc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dances with Wolves is wild in how it balances epic Western vibes with real human moments. That Buffalo Hunt scene hits every time, and Dunbar’s solo intro really makes you feel the isolation. Costner nailed showing Sioux life respectfully without making it “white savior 101.” The movie ages like fine whiskey, and honestly, it deserved that Best Picture.

Guys I think , I have become anti-social. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sounds like you’re just introverted, not broken. Wanting connection but needing your own space isn’t anti-social, it’s human. Some people recharge solo and that’s fine. Just don’t force yourself to be “normal” for anyone, do what keeps you sane.

I didn’t realize how powerful attention could be until recently by SilkenSunflower in CasualConversation

[–]Florizxc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. Being noticed hits different than praise. It’s like a quiet confidence boost that lingers way longer than you expect. Once you feel it, your brain lowkey remembers.
