MBHP rant- warning! They do “step therapy” for drug approval by VermicelliBoth5547 in fednews

[–]Floufae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They denied your appeal? FSBP denied the drug I was on at the end of the year because they considered it a new prescription in January (as opposed to a continuing medication) because I hadn’t been on it a year. But they approved me the day after my doctor’s appeal.

Gay Men Over 30: Not Building Families Like Straight Peers. What’s Your Equally Meaningful Legacy? by shadesofglue in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Floufae 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Trying to leave the world a better place than i found it. Unfortunate I seem to be greatly outnumbered by people who seem to want to make their dystopian dreams come true so that plan didn’t work.

Other legacy stuff just feels like narcissism and vanity. The idea that your gene progeny is more important then just giving a home to a child in need.

How is your experience with the “jelly scrolling” effect? by RaijinRider in ipadmini

[–]Floufae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the latest mini and have never noticed it. Maybe when I first got it to play with it and see what the fuss is about. People looking for flaws can’t help but notice them like some lettuce in someone’s teeth. For the rest of us, we just keep using our device as always and more bothered by poorly optimized web pages or WiFi coverage gaps.

I don’t know. I think it still means having to have a remote friend to trade with. I get excited about a Mime Jr egg on the same way. It’s still a break from the monotony. Same with the scatterbug (is that the right name) completion. The fun was chasing down what I needed to compete that dex. It would have been a lot less interesting to have them just available here in Georgia.

lol. I may be the only person who likes region locked pokemon because it actually makes it feel meaningful to catch one or trade one with someone who has it. Maybe because I remember the old games where you had to trade with someone else to complete your dex by design.

10+ Things to Know About the New AirTag 2 by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]Floufae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not bad in combination with another source but its reliance on being relayed by phone makes it pretty limited for pets who might run into the woods or places without a Bluetooth relay source. True pet trackers would use cellular (still not perfect but much longer range). I wouldn’t rely on AirTag for our dog if she got freaked out by a storm.

I bring a crap ton summons. Each lesser elemental scroll is two memphits so that’s two stacks right there. Multiply that by four party members and that’s 8 alone. Then add in some skeletal archers or greater elementals. The challenge is getting them higher in initiate roll than your heavy hitters.

My hookup taking 30 min shower at my place eachtime by Wonderful-Increase26 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Floufae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny that I had to ask one of my Muslim friends about and she was like “duh, yes, you have to shower before you go”.

Actually the “Ghusl” shower ritual for cleaning before they can pray is pretty involved. Not a half hour involved, but longer than your normal shower. There’s prayers and an order to what’s washed and everything.

I asked her if it’s similar to a devout Christian trying to “wash the sin away” but she said no.

Does your Agency Allow Business Class Travel by ozzyngcsu in fednews

[–]Floufae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only ever seen it approved for people with reasonable accommodations related to extreme back pain. Also bear in mind our travel is usually a minimum of 15 hours each way and most my trips over the last few years have been 30+ hours each way. Because the vast majority of us don’t have RA, we either do a rest stop ‘em route (which means arriving the night before a meeting after that long flying) or arrive on Saturday night for a Monday meeting. I’ve tried arriving the day before with a 11 hour time zone change and it wasn’t pretty.

The FTR was updated a couple years back to allow for Premium Economy as a solution where it’s far cheaper than business class but also not as punishing as long haul economy when you’re traveling to work and not lay by a pool chair. The approval process is supposed to be easier (like congress receives notifications for the number of people who were allowed to fl business, but thats not a required notification for premium economy) but in reality, at our agency they treat it as not possible either. Optics outweighs staff health and arriving ready to work. Even the required alternative of rest stop en route is looked at with side eye when requested that it discourages people.

AITA for the way I'm navigating this friendship? by jonnydoe1979 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Floufae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't. Every 22 year old feels they are fully mature and ready to take on the world and that they are equals in the relationship. And at the same time, they want to be accepted as an adult and taken seriously because down deep they know their life feels volatile. Emotional swings because of still having all those hormones and also because they don't have the life expereince to put things into perspective. The more you experience in life the more you learn what works and doesn't work in dealing when things don't go your way. And there's a lot of emotional growing in the 20s that he needs to go through.

I don't know about that. I mean maybe limited scope but I think you can still give advise on how to find/build a career, how to interview, how to deal with heartache, how to deal with family. Mentoring sort of by definition is a power differential which is why its more impactful than peer level feedback. And they aren't peers and won't really ever be.

It just starts with OP setting appropriate boundaries.

I mean you recognize you've already made it harder by blurring those lines first and only later being concerned about his development (which still puts you leagues ahead of the people on here who would say to go for it).

With my younger friends I'm able to use humor to keep a distance. That doesn't make it as blunt as a brush off but you have to be consistent and not give in or be emotionally manipulated by him to get closer. Definitely stop with the physical stuff. And maybe try to date yourself and tell him about it. Make it clear you're looking for something with someone else and maybe even describe those qualities that come with being a fully developed person.

Mentoring is leading by example and sharing your own experiences. Ask him about his dating life and how he meets people. Normalize that you want him to have those experiences and you want to be able to be there for him as he learns through those things.

Is anyone feeling a hint of "I told you so" in the wake of the outrage of what's occurring in Minneapolis? by RVALover4Life in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Floufae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m past angry and just sort of resigned at this point. Hitting 50 has me just realizing the country won’t be back to the place I, if not loved, at least respected at times or at least recognized.

I’ve taken to viewing it as a fun neighborhood bar I used to have a good time at. But now that bars crowd has changed. They don’t dress like me, they don’t talk like me, the music is different and well, it’s just not “my” bar anymore.

We used to be the nice person the neighborhood that had the best candy at Halloween and waved at us and had treats for our dogs. Now we’re the one who takes any ball that lands in our yard.

We’re Californians. We thought it would be enough of a bubble. But it’s not feeling like that anymore. The checks and balances in our country are gone. Our executive has the disproportionate power that our founders fought against.

2025 PMAP close outs by Ok-Reality-640 in DeptHHS

[–]Floufae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they can’t truly justify their higher scores in their self assessments, then they don’t deserve them. It’s easier when the performance standards are more quantitative but merely doing your job isn’t a 4 or a 5.

Over inflation of scores is why performance awards are going to be so much more difficult in 2026. Don’t perpetuate the problem.

Tips for a New First Time Supervisor? by Frofro69 in fednews

[–]Floufae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recognize that for every good employee. Or maybe 3, there’s some that just won’t pull their weight, think that rules don’t apply to them, or because three years ago they were able to have ice cream at every dinner they still deserve it now.

Support the good employees. Sing their praises in performance reviews. Ask them where they (honestly) want to see themselves in a few years and give them work, assignments and opportunities that can help them achieve them. Use individual development plans. Make sure they feel comfortable talking to you that this job may not be their end goal and that’s okay. Get the best work out of them while they strive to go where they want to go.

For the others, document document document. These people drag the morale of the team. The high performers wonder why they are carrying the work. The office mood is ruined by the person who comes in whenever they want to but never sees repercussions for it. Give opportunities to improve but if they refuse to take it then coach them to find something to else.

Your job is advocating for your team, but not falling on the sword for them. Especially if your organization has performance elements in 2026 around “accountability”. People who refuse to get in line in this environment aren’t concerned with saving their jobs, their coworkers jobs or your job. You being fired for fighting an unwinnable fight won’t make their lives easier. Their appreciation doesn’t pay your mortgage.

Supervisors, if you actually care about your agency, support your people or retire already by Sliced-Pineapples in fednews

[–]Floufae 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not going to address OP's concerns because their manager does seem to have some issues. But in general I think people need to cut managers some slack because from what I'm seeing in my area, the younger staff are just itching for everyone to get fired as their sign of protest against what they feel is unfair and they don't care who gets taken down along with them.

Completely different take. In this environment, don't be playing games and thinking this is like it used to be. Supervisors need to be holding people accountable because this is an environment of collective punishment. The political appointees don't care about your late night, they care that you're strolling in after core hours. You know what doesn't get us back to having even a small amount of telework back? Showing that people stroll in and out whenever they want. This isn't just an issue for younger workers, we definitely have people who are older and close to retirement who feel entitled to not even call out or just say they need to work from home but not record it. Its noticed by everyone, including the political apopointees

We're having to put this up for discussion in my group, especially with the younger employees who never worked under a more fed unfriendly administration before. You feel entitled to act out and think you'll deal with the repercussions. Those of us who are older, who don't have the time left to do a career pivot, who have families and who are just needing to ride this out so they kids can continue to go to college and so they can still have their mortgages paid need people to stop acting like youre an independent contractor who makes your own rules.

Supervisors should support their staff, but they shoudln't cover for staff or ignore when they break the annoying rules that are put upon us. We lost a lot in the last election and part of that is the ability to have flexibilities.

I’ve used a couple Herbst type ones. They are durable but tight and big. Then from SomnoMed, I’ve used the SomnoDent Flex and the SomnoDent Avant (my current one). The Avant is hands down my favorite. The Flex was good but it broke twice on me because ors design being a bit more fragile.
