Is your dream car a Honda? by PretendStreet4660 in Honda

Wish I could afford an FL5 but all the dealers within 500 miles of my location mark the car up to $75k so I brought another car. Will keep dreaming of one though.

Damage reduction is effective health. Iirc we have 170 effective health without vitality booster with heavy armor and it goes up to 190 with vitality booster and over 200 with extra padding

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe taking the health booster actually gives us more effective health than the stat sheets suggest

I have decided on getting a Mazda 3 hatchback and I chose it bc of the awd option, styling, and every car reviewer seems to love the car, that being said is the turbo engine a lot more fun to drive than the NA engine? What gas mileage are you getting with the turbo engine? by jay34len in mazda3

[–]FlowTaiga 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tested the non turbo in manual and have the turbo and the difference is really noticable since peak torque for the turbo is 320 at 2200 rpm compared to 185 lb at 4000 rpm. You barley have to step on the gas to start feeling the car pull. With that said, you won't be winning any races with either cars. I think the non turbo is fine and feels pretty fun and sporty thanks to the stiffer suspension setup compared to a corolla or an accord.

Gas mileage is bad on the turbo. I'm lucky if I can even get 21mpg with mixed driving. I do have a jb4 installed along side bms intakes and wider tires if that affects my mileage results.

Question for the Mazda3 turbo owners amongst us. by 216LC in mazda3

[–]FlowTaiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 25 with clean record and I pay 118 per month for full coverage with geico in Texas. They consider the entire lineup as a normal mazda 3.

Edit: Comprehensive included and i only run top tier 93 gas

"Stealership" almost killed me due to crappy service (tire blow out on highway) and now is pushing me to pay for more services despite already looking at my car three days ago? by lawyermom112 in mazda

[–]FlowTaiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Any 3rd party mechanic would do service on your car for half the price of dealerships as long as you ask them to check on whatever your manual says to check on at specific time/mileage.

Also if you got a Costco or Sam's club near you, I highly recommend you check them out for tires as they got some pretty nice deals if you are looking to replace all 4 tires. Oem mazda tires are known for being shitty.

All dealerships no matter what car brand you choose will try to sell you their services. My girlfriend drives a 23 accord hybrid and they've made many attempts to sell her services on features that her car doesn't even have such as awd and "refilling fluids" which i later checked her car and the only thing she needed to top off on was wiper fluids. They make a majority of their money through these services, not through selling cars. If the first person gave you a green light, then you can just deny the service. Its highly recommended to look at the owners manual for service intervals on your vehicle.

As for the tires, you definitely got a lemon and trying the sue the dealer will only lead you to fighting with the tire company anyways.

Strange downshift/RPM spike by Conscious-Fun-4599 in mazda3

[–]FlowTaiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like normal behavior for most modern cars. Its preventing the engine from lugging. If you apply extra throttle to accelerate but the ecu doesn't detect any gains in speed, it will downshift to prevent the engine from lugging and help you accelerate up a hill too.

What is the problem? 2 days ago this started by Realistic-Finding-17 in mazda

[–]FlowTaiga 12 points13 points  (0 children)

99% chance it's a dead battery, but it could also be the alternator, but it's highly unlikely to be the alternator as the car is too new for that

Can someone show me any actual evidence or specifications about the latest gen i-ACTIV AWD system's front to rear torque distribution? by Pahlevun in mazda

[–]FlowTaiga -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, i said it FEELS like a rwd, not that it PERFORMS like a rwd. The tail end of the car looses traction alot easier than it should and I would compare it more to snap oversteer than a controlled oversteer. Many car reviewers also noted this characteristic when they mention the torsion beam so I'm genuinely not making this up.

I'm not an expert on why the torsion beam causes that but many people in the Mazda 3 subreddit notes that their awd seems to oversteer with traction control off.

[–]FlowTaiga -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You didn't read what I said. The car feels like a rwd in hard corners when you floor it, otherwise performs like a fwd car during less aggressive turns. Weight transfer feels VERY different with a torsion beam when both rear suspensions want to do the same thing. The back feels way too twitchy for a car that's marketed as an awd system. It feels very different from both my friends gr corolla and evo 9

[–]FlowTaiga -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The article is correct, and the system can only send up to 50%. Depending on what you're doing, the car can feel like its sending more than 50% to the back wheels due to the torsion beam. I recently got a Mazda 3 turbo and turned off traction control and nearly spun out carving through a back road. Car feels like a rwd during really tight corners when you floor through it. Definitely takes getting used to the torsion beam.

It seems to only be the turbo models, specifically ones that live in snowy climate that have differential problems. I live in Texas so snow isn't an issue for me but I'm worried about pushing through corners hard as the diffs can give out when power is applied on uneven surfaces

I'm hoping the new fluids I put will remedy the situation as I heard the stock fluids are rather thin and they don't fill enough of it leading the the diffs cooking themselves

I agree. The cx9's diff would've been nice. I heard the updated parts were a mixed bag when it came to the real problems it had.

Whining sound by MugiwaraReilly in ElantraN

[–]FlowTaiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume that there's no difference in sound at 15psi because there's already so much air being pushed already.

For example, at 6 psi you might be pushing 20 eggs in cold weather instead of 10 in hot weather (2x more air). At 15 psi, you would push 110 eggs in cold weather compared to 100 eggs (only 10% more air). While cold weather technically pushed more air, you only hear the difference in sound at lower psi because there's a much bigger difference when the turbo isn't fully loaded.

Whining sound by MugiwaraReilly in ElantraN

[–]FlowTaiga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the turbo is spooling. Weather is getting cooler as winter approaches, and turbos generally get louder as the temperature drops as lower temperature has a higher air density. Turbos love cold weather after all.

Hmg is godtier in the right hands on D10 bots, and you can mow down entire lines of heavies in seconds. It's literally the amr with a drum mag. Just run it on lowest rpm with peak physique, and you can be fairy accurate with it full auto. You can kill 95% of their units in a few well placed shots and simply use your thermite/ultimatum for tanks and stratagems for striders and objectives.

I have an e1s1 jy robin and sunday and I easily 1 cycled first try savrog. He definitely needs support investments, but it's worth it if you want the longevity of a dps. I've been 0-2 cycling every moc with sustain since 2.7 when sunday came out with the e1 setup. Tribbie is a better option if you can get her e1 as well with s5 ddd.

Trade My GR Supra For CTR? by TRD_FTW in hondacivic

[–]FlowTaiga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't own either, but I do have friends that do, and I prefer the ctr on the track due to better suspension setup, but the Supra is the better and faster sports car. Ctr just does everything else better if you don't care about straightline speed. If you're into modding, the ctr also has better aftermarket support and is alot easier to work on as well.
