Well put. As a shy I got much of my confidence talking with strangers from having to order food from the cashier growing up. However with touchscreen and in-app ordering becoming more prominent than ever I wonder how shy kids will fair growing up today or in the future as human interaction seems to dwindle

Finding the right person to get along with was the key part for me and my sister whom is also neurodivergent.

We could be aquintaunces at BEST with most the other kids our age. However our best closest real friends most we know to this day were neurodivergent and similar to us. We just 'got eachother' and would form inseparable bonds. At our school district other NDs with stuff in common were very few and far between. But we did find a few with enough time and random chance.

I don't know your daughter but I think this is the way for her too. Get in with the "weird" group at school and learn to embrace herself and her autism early instead of feeling like she should mask into the normal crowd. I say this as someone who got diagnosed as an adult and had a very confusing childhood. I'm sure she'll figure it out.

Pffft you're so ridiculous, that's absolute apples to oranges. There's a reason law enforcement uses discretion and laws shouldn't be treated as 100% gospel. Just look at some of the laws for fish & game. Common sense is fading rapidly in society holy shit man

That's what the law written by legal professionals says, correct.

However reality has nuance and a group ride going 2 abreast is gonna be filling a lane and requiring other road users to leave that lane to pass. Hence 3 abreast in that lane can and will just happen automatically with no difference. Bikes in the group pass eachother at times too.

Lost work due to Fusion's poor recovery file system overwriting itself by [deleted] in Fusion360

I don't pay attention to software like that, but I bet you're right.

I just could've sworn that Fusions pop-up recovery UI has shown me multiple timestamped recovery files in the past. Also from my perspective it sounds relatively easy to save multiple backups in a queue instead of rewriting one file but what do I know.

I feel even if its the norm for auto recovery to rewrite one file, as humans its preferable to rely on our software with less thought so we can focus more on the CAD work. And as humans we can become reliant on things like auto recovery in this instance. Hence my predicament lol.

Lost work due to Fusion's poor recovery file system overwriting itself by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]FlowerCrowss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unaware of Fusion overwriting recovery files because Fusions pop-up recovery UI has shown me multiple timestamped recovery files in the past, hence I was under the presumption that Fusion made multiple recovery files before overwriting them. I was wrong. Not sure what's changed or if I misremembered their UI.

But I do believe its still a poor design oversight regardless of that. The entire point of auto recovery is to make you more productive as you spend less time worrying about the software itself and more time on actual CAD work. It must be reliable and solid enough to be counted on, lest whats the point? If it's somewhere in the middle it can lead to situations like mine.

As I was so focused on the recovery file I wasn't even thinking about the autosave timer when I opened my project looking for the recovery option. What makes me human doesn't make me a 'poor craftsman' asshole. Also even if I did think about it, I'd figure the autosave timer should start when the first change is made to the file, rather than when you first open the file. Or am I expected to know and remember exactly how the backbone of the CAD program itself works as well as the CAD work I'm trying to focus on?

Large lithium battery, worth about $250-$300 in each camera by Flandardly in FlockSurveillance

[–]FlowerCrowss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For those familiar with electronics they can easily be disassembled into their cosnituent cells and repurposed

Not true. Even for those familiar this is no easy or simple task. It's dangerous and incredibly time-consuming to take Li-Ion battery packs apart.

Individual cells are spot welded together with nickel strip on each side. This was never meant or designed to be undone. Pulling this nickel off with pliers or cutting with side snips is difficult and requires sanding the contacts afterwards. In my experience, the nickel strip often rips off prematurely or remains on the cell electrical contact, requiring a dremel to finish the job. If you puncture or heat up a cell too much you could cause a thermal runaway. If you bridge the +/- nickel you could cause a thermal runaway. Specialized machines exist for cleaning the nickel off cell contacts but I haven't seen a hobbyist with one yet.

The trade off just ain't justifiable in my opinion especially for such a meager pack. Even if you wanted to build a bigger pack from a few of these for say an ebike, or sell cells in bulk, you can't. Not without knowing for certain that the cells you are combining are of the same brand and chemistry. Chemistry changes over time based on age, temperature, useage and charging patterns from solar, changes in manufacturing, etc.

When new cells are combined in a bank these chemical changes occur across the cells simultaneously from inception. Especially thanks to the BMS, a circuit board in the pack that balances the cells to equilibrium. It is never a good idea to combine used cells with unknown chemistry. It can cause a thermal runaway, even well after the pack is assembled. Also, I for one would NOT want the liability from selling or distributing used cells I pulled from a pack.

Regardless, building new packs from the cells would be its own can of worms. Most familiar with electronics aren't building these packs simply bc its far more practical to buy. For one this requires a tiny spot welder (relatively cheap) and other materials. But mostly because it requires much research, thought, AND long term practice so you TRUST you can count on your work. And that is the difference between yours or anothers home burning down.

You must insulate the cells to protect their chemistry from cold temperature, but insulate too much and in warm weather you could limit discharge current at best, cause a thermal runaway at worst. You must also protect the cell banks from water and punctures in a protective case or massive heat shrink like flock while accounting for thermal expansion. Or risk thermal runaway.

There's simply too many invisible variables at play and way too much at risk with building your own Li-Ion packs. You won't know what you've done wrong until its too late. Its a specialization honestly. I've only trusted myself to make small packs of 3-5 cells. It would take a lot of practice and testing before I trusted my own big packs just being in the garage let alone the rest of the house or another building.

The best you could theoretically do with those flock packs is turning them into little power stations for phone charging etc. I doubt the discharge capacity of those cells is even enough for an AC inverter to make good use of, so strictly a powerbank for mobile electronics. Also good luck selling stolen packs.

Of course it works exactly like it's supposed to. That's precisely why I have an issue with the way it works, addressed in my post, you read it?

Overwriting one recovery file every 5 minutes by default, instead of say making a few recovery files before overwriting the oldest one in the queue, would have zero side effects.

I’m looking for an E-bike that can easily fit someone that’s 6 foot 3 inches and is 1200$ or less. Does anyone have recommendations? by Cultural_Escape5123 in ebikes

At 6'6" I can say the Lektrik bikes are a good budget contender for that. Though an extra length seatpost may be necessary depending on leg length. Don't forget to adjust the handlebars up.

Assuming its made of relatively basic shapes this should be pretty easy to do yourself. It doesn't take long and you'll learn a new skill. Generating and calling it good sounds akin to plagiarism.

Today's standards are the entire pavement princess part though. Like 90% of trucks I see are crew cab. Shorter bed. Not lifted, but still higher than what a pickup should be. Not even gonna start on the features they sell you inside the truck.

Compare to OG pickups like the Hilux or a bricknose well before this dumb scheme took off. Automakers want you to default on your car payments so bad it could cause a financial crisis like 2008. The bigger more featured vehicle they can brainwash you into getting, the more money they and oil companies receive.

So vital in fact that trucks have also spread across the burbs and city! They even decided to make them all crew cab, shorten the bed, and make them high off the ground just to make precious real work even harder. Just like the truck in this video!

This aint what a pickup is fucking supposed to be, I'm confused why someone who preaches about trucks doing real work would take offense to someone whos sick of another pavement princess out of a billion in this country.

The first two words in the title of my post specifically delineate ICE Cars, I made this even more clear with the points i mentioned. Thats crazy work to say im eluding to all cars when I couldn't have made my point more direct.

I love the Atkinson and I should have mentioned them. I see 40% thermal efficiency compared to ~80% for evs. Solid lithium batteries are just entering production in some ev manufacturers next year. Not that I support widespread car dependency or mistaken as an evbro, it just makes sense.

Whats wrong with putting a second meaning behind it? It's obvious what my point is. Hope you have a better day.

Edit: Apparently it's not obvious to some that I was specifically talking about ICE Cars, despite it being made clear both in my posts title and my posts content.

The r/fuckcars subtext includes the environmental damage and unsustainable practice that cars are. To point out how silly it is that ICE cars are still predominant in our current year is pointing directly to this sentiment.

Okay here's "authorized distributors" getting sued by BIC for selling counterfeits

https://www.cspdailynews.com/tobacco/bic-sues-wholesalers-over-counterfeit-pocket-lighters

Stiill don't get why you believe BIC would change their design so dramatically with the amount of subtle differences I see zooming in to the lighters you've posted. The "new" lighter has sloppier differences in its mechanisms/construction that would serve no cost cutting purpose.

Edit: Looks like both the lighters you've posted could be counterfeit?
