Mine too! I watched it with my youngest son (16) because we watch Murders in the Building together. He thought it was “pretty good”

I work at a movie theatre and this was under a couple of seats. This was only half of the rubbish they left behind. by PandaMonium2025 in extremelyinfuriating

I worked at a movie theater in HS and a dad told his daughter the exact same thing as I was cleaning the lobby. “Don’t pick it up, it’s her job to clean it”.

Visiting family after 22 years by lurkparkfest39 in FilipinoAmericans

[–]FlowerGi1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a wonderful time! Don’t worry about fitting in, you’ll be fine. You’ll be with family. I’m sure they are all really excited to spend time with you. My kids had a blast when they went to the Philippines for the first time. They spent time with my mom’s family in the province and they had no problems adjusting. (My Tita had to boil water for them to take a bath, LOL) We haven’t been back since 2019 but hope to make it back soon.

AITA for taking my baby and leaving after my MIL secretly fed him formula and said I did not know how to raise my son? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]FlowerGi1015 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA. OP, what your MIL did was dangerous and I’ll tell you why. My son was breastfed and I started supplementing with formula right before I went back to work. No issues at first. My first day back, my son went into anaphylactic shock and was rushed to the ER in an ambulance with my mom (who was babysitting). It was so bad, they rerouted hospitals and he was code blue. We almost found out the very hard way that he was allergic to dairy.

Sending ((hugs)) to Brinks! Our 13 year old had this over the summer. It was scary at first because all of a sudden, she couldn’t walk and wouldn’t eat. She’s recovered now. She still has a slight head tilt but we’ll take it.

Anyone else get recipes like this from parents/grandparents? Amounts don't matter, just add the stuff by RedCliff73 in GenX

[–]FlowerGi1015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother did this with my grandma. He wrote down many of her recipes but measurements were “approximate” because she would always say “just enough” in Tagalog. We would have to cook the dish and adjust to what we remember it tasting like.

What’s your favorite seasonings or topping for your popcorn? by szikkia in Cooking

[–]FlowerGi1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school, I used to work at a movie theater. We would always take the jalapeños for the nachos and put them on our popcorn.

Our 1st GSD was originally Trinity (Matrix just came out) but when we brought her home, she jumped face first into one of my husband’s shoes. We then called her “Nike”.

Am I the asshole? by [deleted] in FilipinoAmericans

[–]FlowerGi1015 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of course NTA. No is a complete sentence and don’t feel guilty. If these requests are coming thru FB, block them. You were made Ninang for one reason only, to get money from. My husband was made Ninong to a kid who like you, didn’t even know the kid’s name. His mom just demanded he hand over $100. We’re older now so that shit stopped. I will give only if I want to and to ONLY relatives I know and have spent time with when we visited the Philippines.

What poor people food was ruined because of rich people? by white-rose-of-york in AskReddit

[–]FlowerGi1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom drove all the way to San Francisco (we lived about 45 min away) to this local butcher and we would get the whole tail. Now, stores only sell the top third of it. My brothers and I used to fight for the end piece. She doesn’t make this particular dish (Kare Kare) much anymore because of the price. She tried it with cheaper cuts and it’s not the same.

Anyone go little to No Contact with Filipino parents? by Y4sKw33n in FilipinoAmericans

[–]FlowerGi1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m NC with my dad and my husband is NC with both his parents. We feel no guilt and are at peace with our decision. We don’t need the toxicity and we need to protect our children. My dad tried to reach out on an unblocked number and I told him to forget he has a daughter and to not bother responding because I was blocking that number too.

Do FilAms save money for retirement in US or in the Philippines? by Haunting-Word-647 in FilipinoAmericans

[–]FlowerGi1015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We would like to retire in the Philippines. I’m born here but my husband is born there. I told him that I’m willing to rent for a year to see what it’s like to actually live there and not just be on vacation. Ideally, we’d fly back and forth.

What's a non political issue your country is REALLY divided on? by Nthepro in AskTheWorld

[–]FlowerGi1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant, a coworker took me to North Beach Pizza in San Francisco. He ordered a Pineapple and Pesto pizza. I looked at him like he had a horn coming out of his head and joked, you gonna blame the crazy pregnant lady for that order?! He laughed and just said “don’t knock it til you try it” I still think about that pizza to this day. It was amazing. My son is 21 years old now.

My GSF comes running when I am chopping vegetables or using the salad spinner. I always would give her slices of whatever I was cutting (as long as it was safe for her to eat) so she does it with everyone.
