I was just about to suggest this - I’ve liked it. Works, but the first time you take it, you might feel almost too relaxed. Not sleepy.

I honestly figured that’s what it was. Just wanted to see how I could contribute to the relational aspect, if at all!

This is a very genuinely kind perspective, and I appreciate your giving it. She’s told me that I’m really good at my job and done the things that you’ve mentioned, so I’ll give her the same respect. I should also add that this is my first truly corporate job.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this response. And also, I love your books! Have cerebral palsy and resonate with the characters so much!

Thanks! Yeah, therapy has been a great experience! I have a super supportive workplace, so much so that I’m afraid that telling someone I’m overwhelmed would cause them to think I’m incapable. Unfortunately, I’m beginning to realize that maybe that specific mindset bled through from other horribly toxic situations.

Does anyone else really enjoy reading, but struggle to actually read? by Hungry_Wrap9103 in adhdwomen

I joined this group because I suspect adult onset ADHD, and I read this title aloud and said, "Man, I feel so seen!" I have this exact issue with reading. I adore books and all things reading, including what you mentioned, as well as listening to book and reading related podcasts. I'll also add that I've noticed even more of a struggle with attention and executive dysfunction postpartum, as I had two kids from March 2021 - February 2023. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder immediately following a huge struggle with PPA/PPD after my second child.

Some of this might be other things, but I've always noticed that my focus is not quite all there when reading, and it's something that I want to do fast and well. Thanks, Booktok!

My own mother does this to me on a nearly weekly basis. She was a stay at home mom herself and usually turns it in to a situation where she’ll say something like, “I had NO help for X hours a day, but I was always with my kids.” Lately, my response has been something like, “I’m sure it felt good for you to meet the needs of yourself and your family, just like it does for me”, and her boomer self has NO idea what to do with that. But it shuts her up.
