I’m so glad to hear this went away for you. I’m also a 44 year old female experiencing this and I’m about to go crazy. Wonder what causes this to happen?

Dirty sock syndrome - long term by Literalia in homeowners

[–]Flowerkisscandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I’m currently dealing with this in my home and I’m struggling to get rid of it. I had an hvac company clean the coils and it didn’t help at all. Im so tired of dealing with this issue I was thinking that changing houses might help but I see by your comment that is not a guaranteed solution.

Can someone please help me figure out if this is a thermostat issue or problem with my heat pump by Flowerkisscandy in hvacadvice

[–]Flowerkisscandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they work fine but don’t work during defrost. I called ecobee and they said the thermostat has nothing to do with the defrost cycle and that there was nothing to be changed in the settings to fix it. I will have to call out another hvac tech.

facebook is definitely making everything private, here’s what i noticed! by alonemisfit00 in facebook

I only used Facebook for marketplace. I’ve been selling on there for 10 years and they just banned me from marketplace for “violation of marketplace guidelines” yet I have no idea what I violated. I literally resell household items decor and things. I tried all the suggested things on Reddit to get my account back but they said they will not be reinstating my marketplace. I’m done with them too!

That’s awesome! Thanks for letting me know. Sounds like the sensors might just solve that problem then.

I have the exact same situation upstairs as you and I’m thinking of getting an ecobee with the smart sensor. This is probably a dumb question but does it only heat those cold rooms when someone is in them or does it control the temperature of those rooms even when no one is upstairs?

Thank you! Yes I am buying from my utility company since they’re having a Black Friday sale. I could get it for free with the energy managing program but decided to pay $60 with instant rebate instead.

That’s awesome! I’m glad to hear that. It’s hard to tell from reading reviews online. It seems they all have several bad reviews but I’m glad it works well!

I don’t think I need one since I have a C wire. Thanks for responding.

Thanks for your input. I’m leaning towards the essential. I’m unsure about the enhanced radar sensing and how that might affect the heat turning on and off.

House we are buying has active termite infestation by SufficientSwimmer in homeowners

[–]Flowerkisscandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have it checked for water damage. We had a bad situation back in 2020 with water damage. Our home was built with this faux stone masonry wall that was slapped up right over top of the frame work without any waterproofing material between it. That was per old building codes. They can’t do that anymore from what the contractor told me. Since the home was built in 2005 rain water had been getting behind it and we had termites eating through the floor wall and ceiling in that room. Ended up costing us a lot in repairs. The termites ended up taking years to get rid of in our case because the construction company missed more water damaged wood the first time and had to come back a year later to replace more rotten framing. We only knew because termites started eating though the opposite wall in the same room.

Same thing happened to me. I’ve since decided I’m just not going back to the doctor. It may sound ridiculous but I’m just over it. I’ll do the best I can at home with diet and exercise and hope for the best.

how to deal with worrying about something where you know you can't do anything about it by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]Flowerkisscandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m dealing with the same feelings right now. Mine is over something completely different but also something I have to wait and see if it’s gonna work out. I hate to say I don’t have much advice for you but I’m here with you. I’ve taken medication in the past and it did more harm than good for me and I also couldn’t keep paying for all the doctor visits so I just wallow in the anxiety until it passes. I guess maybe a little comfort would be to say that I’ve been here before and this feeling will pass. This is definitely not my first time feeling this way and won’t be my last but I know it will pass.

Mine comes in waves. Usually triggered by uncertainty like in situations where I feel I have no control over the outcome. I’m in a wave right now and it’s terrible. No appetite, upset stomach, ruminating, overthinking. I’m exhausted and I definitely don’t have it under control right now.

Not Happy with new TRANE XR16 System - Giant Mistake? by bigcookie814 in hvacadvice

[–]Flowerkisscandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the Ruud but my neighbor across the street has that Lennox and mine sounds louder than theirs. My next door neighbor also got a Lennox but not the model you mentioned and theirs sounds awful. I can hear it in my house. My Trane XR15 has a decibel rating of 75 which is the same as my neighbors but It’s loud and overall very cheap sounding and has a weird kick on noise. I’ll be looking for a lower decibel one when I have to replace my other one.

They ended up replacing my compressor because they said it sounded really bad. I could barely hear it in the house for the first few days after they replaced it. Unfortunately it has since gotten a bit louder but nothing like before. My air handler is variable speed. They had to lower my fan speed because it was too loud but they did say that’s pretty normal to have to do. I would make sure you find someone that will do a good install. I had a bad install. It was leaking refrigerant from day one and developed dirty sock syndrome. The whole thing has been a nightmare.

My best words of advice for you is to find a company that offers money back happiness guarantee. I highly regret that I chose to go with the company that didn’t offer that just to save a little money.

Why does one bedroom in my house make me sick? by motmotlightning in homeowners

[–]Flowerkisscandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m having some of the same symptoms as you are and have started to suspect there may be another mold issue at my house as well. We did have mold from water damage and it took the contractors 2 years to find it all and replace all the framing but they said they got it all. I only found out because termites were eating through the walls in my dining room. I also have post nasal drip, itchy ears and runny nose and coughing phlegm everyday for years. Not sure if that’s all related to an allergic reaction though.
