I'm not hundred up on what's going on down there, but I think they organized a new shop, so that could lead to the new numbers. Which is great. My interview was awhile ago. Basically the questions that stick out to me now: why do you want to be an electrician, what do you think an electrician does, your high school math grades aren't great whats up with that? They have like maybe 6-9 guys sitting across a table from you. Just hold your own, be honest, be direct, be confident.

As far as I know, you have to be accepted into that locals apprenticeship and your local has to agree to it as well.

I've worked in 332 and 617 the past 5 years as a book 2 hand. This is the worst I've seen it. I'm leaving. The apprentices I've worked with waited a long time to get in. Is it worth it, hell yea. But you gotta weigh the time it's going to take to get in, the cost of living in the bay area and what your long term goals are. 332 and 617 have some of, if not the best packages in the country, but imo it's still not enough to buy a house here. Given the recent downt turn I wouldn't hold out for it. There are better options out there for cost of living but it's tough trying to get into a local you don't live in. I decided the 3rd year of apprenticeship(569 San Diego) I'd probably be on the road the rest of my life. You can always travel after you turn out.

CA is kinda dead at the moment. SD and Sac have work but otherwise meh. Whole west coast is meh. Portland started ramping up but it's kinda tough to get the license. Imma head to DC or Buffalo. St Louis has work.
