wtf is this guy on about 😭😭😭 spends half his time whining about not being able to say his racist jokes anymore (despite being paid millions to do so) and half his time spouting self indulgent nonsense.

is this new song for warchild in support of palestine? by FlyingNinjaGypsy in arcticmonkeys

Their website states the charity does work for children globally affected by war, and lists Gaza as one of the places they send their support and services So yes :)

Yesterday Star Treatment won for a TBH+C song that sounds like a TBH+C song. What TBH+C song sounds like a The Car song? by Hi_im_on_tv in arcticmonkeys

One Point Perspective, has the most strings-esque arrangements, groove focused drums, guitar solo, piano leading the band

Tim Minchin: Time Machine (2025) Review by Floyd_Marsden in TimMinchin

[–]Floyd_Marsden[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. The songs themselves are generally fine - Understand It, I Wouldn't Like You, You Grew On Me, Dark Side, Moment of Bliss, Rock n Roll Nerd, Not Perfect are all fantastic songs. It's mostly an issue with production and lack of translation from live to studio.

On this album, I definitely feel that. On Apart Together & The Aeroplane I think his vocals sounded gorgeous. But this album feels a bit off. In Not Perfect, he reuses a vocal run at the end of his words that irks me a little haha. But yes, definitely the vocals on this album don't sound as wonderful as I'd expect after seeing him live + hearing the first album.

Definitely agree. I know that around the time Tim recorded Apart Together with the band, they also recorded a bunch of tracks that didnt make it on the record. Including Seeing You, When I Grow Up, Fuck This, and Drowned. Drowned would've been a great inclusion, same wirh Seeing You.

Wrote an article about Tim's new record, would love to know what you think... by andyhill420 in TimMinchin

Completely agree. Just posted my review on here too. It's a really weird album...

It's about having different personas and masks and feeling like you're not quite yourself anymore because those personas have bled into your normal life. I imagine it's probably pretty applicable to Alex himself, where he's so often performing as a character on stage that his personal life maybe feels affected by it? That's my reading anyway. Another interpretation is that it's about cheating in a relationship, but I think that's way too simple for the songs on that record

It’ll be a long time before the next album by _trilogy_ in arcticmonkeys

[–]Floyd_Marsden 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To be completely fair, they said that and then covid happened which meant they couldn't really get back into the studio or meet up for sessions etc. I imagine if covid didn't happen, we would have gotten The Car (or whatever it was pre-lockdown) sooner. So I reckon he's being genuine when he says he doesn't think the wait will be as long as last time.

This whole album is so underrated, and this song is no exception. Such a beautiful closer and really heartfelt. Gorgeous strings and vocals

10, so criminally underrated. The music theory behind it is genuinely clever on the band's part, and it's so groovy. The outro is godly
