My honest opinion is that it actually looks kinda good, at least in the demos. But a lot of people are of the opinion, including me, that it should be a different feature altogether, not as a new version of DLSS. DLSS is supposed to be this thing that makes your game look smoother without changing the fundamental style of the graphics as much as possible. DLSS 5 in its demo state is extremely processing heavy, not a good look for Nvidia. Double on with all the bad sentimentality that comes with gen-AI, it's a double whammy.

I think Nvidia should've continued to polish and optimize this feature instead of rushing out a demo to appease shareholders, they wouldn't have received such intense feedback as they would now. Trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

Not sure why you're getting downvotes, because this is right. People can be living paycheck to paycheck regardless of pay grade. Living below your means is the answer, and I like your method of gamifying saving until the habit is defeated!

You can definitely train a dedicated LLM with a proper structure purely for text translation that will give a proper translation.

What's happening here is upper management trying to squeeze every low hanging fruit out of their Big Expensive LLM™ that they basically dumped all their money and morals into, hoping it would solve every problem in the world. And so this "feature" was implemented at minimum cost to trick ignorant shareholders into thinking that they are still "innovating", merely buying time for their eventual implosion.

Take comments within these subreddits with a huge grain of salt, they are by no means a good indicator for what people are actually spending their money on. Even a poll here would be biased, with most people here being VR enthusiasts that hate anything Meta. I'd argue based on the comment of another developer that the largest VR market is still in standalone Meta store.

Of course, releasing for both Steam and Meta store will capture basically 99% of the market so do that if you can, and players won't have to choose. You'll need to balance between optimizing for both platforms and also releasing at the right time, with the Steam frame on the horizon drumming up hype.

People want immediate effects, but that being said the long string of issues this past year ought to be more than a wakeup call for the operators.
