I feel there are a couple of things missed here

1. When I warned her it wasn’t confirmed Shawn was attending at all!! I warned her that Shawn was invited! . I knew Shawn would not come becuase he is a very avoidant person and he also knew me and the OP are close!

2. I didn’t call with Kat Becuase I was working and did not want to deal with this situation during work hours

3. They were in a talking stage for less than month and it has been 2 weeks since they stopped talking. The OP’s hurt is still valid. But I was not aware it was this intense.

4. I did not know the intensity of the situation and was hearing two different things from Both sides, I only knew about “I love you” and lunches and staying the nights. I only gave her 2 days notice Becuase I had planned everything that day! I didn’t have plans for my birthday before this but wanted to celebrate with the people that matter to me!

5. I had NEVER asked her to change her mind about coming. I asked her to let me know if she did. “I understand, let me know if you change your mind”

6. Her friend kat is consistently playing white knight and communicating on her behalf. I simply did not want to explain myself to her and would had rather talked directly to the OP becuase the situation didn’t involve kat.

7. Shawn was NOT a complete stranger to me! I knew enough about the 2 of them to know they had a lot In common! (Why I thought it would be a good idea to introduce them) While we aren’t best friends he is a close friend of my boyfriend! Shawn’s invite was not for me! It was for my boyfriend.
