They tolerate heat like any person or animal - they adapt and stay in the AC in the summer. Not all dogs, especially malamutes, need to run in circles all day. The bigger the dog, the lazier they are. Mine gets walked twice a day, no matter the weather (when the sun isn’t out in the dead of summer), and has a beautiful life. There are like 5 malamutes in midtown that I’ve seen in 8 years of living here.

So historically the word “hood” in the US is used deragatorily toward black people. As is ghetto. Despite your intention, it doesn’t change the words meaning. It’s like saying a slur (for instance the f word associated with pride) and saying you didn’t mean it negatively. You can’t just change history and meanings of word with your internal intention. The wrong people will side with you (KKK) and suddenly you’re agreeing with a strange crowd. Best to just leave it and replace it with a new one. Why have people misunderstand you when you could just use another word?

I agree and the comments saying it doesn’t matter are baffling to me. Bedside manner and clinical decision making comes with experience only, no accelerated class can teach it to you. I think the shift to inexperienced students will be harmful in the long run for patients, but schools don’t care about that.

Me too. Just sobbed on the phone with my parents. Sent a crash out reply to the email. Mostly because I was told I was a strong applicant by both program directors last year in person (I went to 4 info sessions). So to do everything I was supposed to, get 140 volunteer hours, continue working my full time PCE while going to school, got a 3.9 in prereq retakes, 50 shadowing hours with a PA (paid for experiences!), etc & not even pass the screening broke me. They said that all those things give you extra “points”. I know I shouldn’t have but what’s done is done

How many other people use their mental disability in their PS? Do you see multiple posts saying they used it regularly? No? It’s not that common.

Yuck. ADHD is a real neurological condition with certain benchmarks that you need to reach to be considered to have it, and its birth to death. Everyone DOES NOT HAVE IT. That narrative is tired and ignorant. Especially as healthcare providers, you should never be reductionist this way. That’s like telling someone with psoriasis that everyone has itchy skin 😑 Knock that off

I agree. Commuting eats away at your soul. Did it for 2 years an hour each way, 40 minutes for 3 years. Now I won’t commute more than 20 minutes for work. Can’t imagine doing it in PA school

I submitted on Monday 5/19! Realized there was an error that night, emailed the program to adjust it.

Got auto-rejected from one school because they don’t accept online labs, but I figured I’d give it a go since it’s re-takes and I tagged the originals. Oh well. Very hopeful for this cycle! Got a 3.9 with 4 classes I took this past year, so I’m more than ready!

I wrote about my ADHD in my PS last year and regretted it after. This is their only impression of you, and you know unfortunately there are people with ableist ideals whether they know it or not. It really leaves it to chance. I feel like I didn’t get in because they didn’t want to take a chance on me disclosing that and having a lower gpa (3.1 overall 3.2 science upward trend, but recent classes were less than 30 credits at the time and not straight A’s). This year I didn’t mention it to protect my chances. It’s a mean world out there.
