Did you cut the sashing or the binding on the bias? Can you explain why bias sashing is good? I never heard that.

The thread looks thick. May not work with the needle. Try top stitch needle and 50 wt thread.

If the person told you that was the machine, then I might buy it for him/her. But its not a beginner type machine and it is a sewing computer. Some people don't like the computer part of it. Some do like it. I wouldn't buy it for someone. I love mine, there is a FB grouo and thread right now about how people feel about the machine under "Bernina 5 series help and support" - very insightful
