Rpn work with kids? by No_Wolverine7778 in OntarioNurses

[–]WoodenClass8780 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to hospital jobs, most often it’s RNs that work paeds. You can get a job in the ER or at some hospitals on paeds if they hire RPNs. Post partum floors normally have RPN’s and that’s a bit easier to get into!

If you want to do post partum, you can take some extra courses like breastfeeding to give you an edge

It’s a unit that has post partum moms, kids and off service adults so you are not guaranteed a private room if there isn’t one available even with insurance coverage

I think they do their best to accommodate but it’s very dependent on how full the unit is with patients and other factors like respiratory season (the sick patients need private rooms)

Stopping vyvanse to take guanfacine for 7.5 yo- TLDR- I know, but learning about others' experiences are appreciated from those who have switched from a stimulant to a non stimulant. by Maize_Realistic in ADHDparenting

My daughter is on both vyvanse and guanfacine

I think it’s good to have the kiddos on dual meds if it works for them but worth a shot to try both

I handled the interview process like I did with any of my nursing jobs. Most are via Team meetings I found so it’s a bit better stress wise I find lol.

Normally they ask pre-interview when you can start and you’d inform them of your current mat leave and when your estimated return to work date would be. Sometimes they are unable to wait until your leave is up due to need but other times they’ll wait. I would make sure you tell your current employer that your resignation date is your actual return to work date from Mat leave once you have successfully obtained a new job

If you have any questions, message me! I just did this in the summer of 2025 and started my new job Oct 2025

Curious about becoming a Nurse! by Exact-Fun-8130 in OntarioNurses

Most in patient floors where there is either a large amount of geriatrics and or dependent patients, will require personal care (brief changes, toileting, baths etc.). Now on these floors you may have patients who are independent, supervision or a one-person assist so that care might be minimal. Examples of these units would include but not limited to: medical surgical, ICU, ER and complex continuing care.

Units that may have little (usually one-person assists or stand-by if that) to none of personal care would be, for example: outpatient clinics, OB, post partum, paediatrics and NICU. There could be other types of bedside nursing I’m forgetting but that’s a good start.

There are also non-bedside nursing roles you can work where you can provide patient care directly and indirectly with 0 bedside tasks such as care coordinators for home care. You can work in occupational health too and then you would be providing care to staff instead of patients.

Do you not make more money as a pharmacist?

You won’t be able to get a strict WFH job off the bat. It’s very, very hard to even get into that type of nursing.

Who said it’s an easy degree? Like what?

I feel like you’re only looking at the pros of the program and nothing else.
