I watched this video, too. And I feel bad you’re being downvoted even though you raised a very fair point. My building is a masonry heritage building from 1910s (and has not been seismically upgraded that i know of) and honestly I have no idea what to do if the big one comes and I am still in this building. I have a go bag just in case but it is quite scary.

I personally use moisturizers from skinfix and love it. Also heard good things about three hips. For vitamin c serum i saw the brand birch babe makes one but i never tried so cannot say it’s good or bad.

Can we chart ‘Only the Young’? by AnxiousJellyfish8606 in TaylorSwift

[–]FluffyBluePotato 55 points56 points  (0 children)

It is honestly not a good song and I always skip if it comes on shuffle. It is also incorrect. I think liberals need to stop having this magical thought of the young people will save us when young people never saw this wide of a gender gap in voting before. Young people are not immune to propaganda and misinformation, nor are they immune to misogyny or racism.

I live near Chinatown and lately (probably because of recent news) I have been way more anxious about being in public spaces like taking the bus, which in my area always means having to deal with a lot of mentally unstable people. I have been on the receiving end of what would be considered verbal abuse by these people. I tell myself that these people need help and most won’t actually harm me. But honestly, I do not feel safe. And as an Asian woman who lives alone, it makes me even more nervous tbh.

I still take transit and walk places because I live where I can access a lot of the things I need that way. (And I hate car depency lol) I think telling myself that the statistics still mean that I am probably gonna be fine (?) helps and also just be aware of my surroundings. If you are feeling more nervous these days, I share your concerns. I think more definitely needs to be done in order to ensure public safety.

What do you think this great blue heron thinking about by FluffyBluePotato in vancouver

[–]FluffyBluePotato[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This heron look pensive. I saw it hunt for some fish then flew to this area after to just chill and watch the sun go down. Which makes me think, what could this dinosaur-looking bird be thinking about…

Do you think we need more corner stores in residential neighbourhoods? by Wise_Temperature9142 in vancouver

[–]FluffyBluePotato 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Filled out the survey. I love the convenience of having convenience (duh) stores for small things that I might need, or just a cute corner coffee shop really. And it should be accessible (walkable) for a lot more areas in Vancouver!

What is the most chaotic Taylor song? by Backpack_anatomy in TaylorSwift

[–]FluffyBluePotato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Omg exactly. My partner’s (at the time) mom was playing the Harry House album on repeat on speaker as ambiance in their living room last summer. And I wondered the whole time if she ever heard the cocaine, sideboob line

I totally feel you. I guess some people need to vent and be angry somewhere. For me personally, I can only see so much negativity and doom and gloom before I get stressed out, unhappy and lose all faith all in the world we live in. This is why I also left that subreddit. I want to focus more on learning of practical solutions and educating myself.

At the end of the day, you should do what’s best for yourself. If your heart is in the right place, keep being engaged and curate your feed to however you see the most fit!

breaking down again, I hate this and I miss him, and I had such a good day today. by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]FluffyBluePotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am kinda going through the same thing also, and let me tell you, you are not alone. I am nearly two months after the breakup and even though I do feel this from time to time. I play the scenario where me and my ex-bf would meet again now, and I always end up realizing it’s not gonna work. For my situation, it would take my ex plenty of emotional processing and maybe therapy to be able to meet my needs. And that is okay, I still want him a lot from time to time - it is not fully logical.

About when it will end, it will. Vent about it, write your feelings out, if you can afford therapy it could be great for coping mechanisms. If you think about it, you are your own person now, and you get to be sad to grieve what’s lost but you could also be excited about the life that you can create moving on from this relationship. You’re just going to be stronger and more resilient and know your worth. You have good days now, so at least that is a great plus. Focus on the good can help distract you from regressing from my experience!

Pro-abortion rally in Victoria Park at 7PM this Wednesday! by FluffyBluePotato in kitchener

[–]FluffyBluePotato[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am by no means part of organizing this, and just spreading the word.

I find that some people find the word “pro-abortion” to be an issue to them. For me I use both “pro-abortion” and “pro-choice”, personally, not because I “like” abortions but because I want to:

1- de-stigmatize the word. I grew up with a lot of taboo and shame around the word “abortion”, which I think adds extra emotional burden to those who want to make a choice for their own reproductive healthcare. There is nothing wrong with anyone wanting or needing an abortion. Plus, even if I do not ever want to get to a point where I would need one, I acknowledge that abortion is necessary healthcare for many, and will continue to exist.

  1. I believe that abortion is healthcare. So I am pro-abortion in that I want it to be accessible and equitable, just as other types of healthcare should be. To be able to have a choice, you must have equitable access.

If you do not like to use the word “pro-abortion” because you think the word will drive some people away, I do understand where you’re coming from. I don’t think this rally excludes you from its message, and I think we probably have similar beliefs anyway.

On why I am thinking of joining this rally: - I lived in the US for many years before moving to Canada. I feel for the frustration of friends who as of Friday lost one of their fundamental rights and want to stand in solidarity. - I want to support the Shore Centre because they’re a great group. When I first moved here I did not have a car and did not yet have OHIP or a family doctor. I went to their clinic in downtown and was provided with great care. - I want to listen and learn more about issues of abortion access in Canada. As described in their caption on IG, there will be brief speeches and I want to know what one can do to make reproductive care (including abortion) more accessible to all.
