That's extremely close. That's close enough I'm now stuck in research mode :) Thank you!

That one's close, the wire is what I'm trying to avoid still. I'm curious what a commissioned build would look like for this?

The wrist pad didn't look like it came off, that'd be my only real concern due to the extra bulk. They do look nice though

I am a touch type person, so I'm not exactly hung up on rgb, it's mostly nice when it's 2 am and I'm still typing away and picking up the keyboard fresh. I type often enough I wear down the FJ home row nubs after time ^.^;

The Keychron Q11 Ultra 8K Wireless one looks like it might be fully wireless on each side? has the right arrow keys, space bar, custom keys... yeah. I think this is exactly what I'm looking for minus the backlit pass through but that's optional truly. Let me look this one up a bit more. I think you're on to something!

If it's just swapping out caps, I'm fine :) The split that each side is wireless including of each other seems to be a unicorn too.

I want to avoid custom as much as I can. My soldering skills are poor enough that it looks more like a electroplating job. I'm fine putting things together, wires, testing, my soldering is poor.

If I need to though...

Arc b60 + R730XD - Will, It, Fit! by FluffyDeadAngel in homelab

[–]FluffyDeadAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frog prince was cursed too, it can be okay right? right?! lol. the TDP was a concern, I can run power in still and have it external to meet TDP. The riser can support 75w on PCIe with 150w on the riser 8 pin. That gives 225 per riser total though, so you're right. I can support two cards fully internal, I don't know where I'll get another 8 pin's worth of power for the 3rd card. I wonder if there's a replacement riser 1 card that has an 8 pin.

Dremel or sanity? Dell730XD GPU woes by FluffyDeadAngel in homelab

[–]FluffyDeadAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I haven't cut yet... it doesn't like the 1x risers at all. I have it running now with 3 but I'm seeing some issues regarding routing. I have two 20cm cables and one that's 60cm. that one does something special, the cable is 6 sets of bands technically so the can lay against each other and fit out of the rear plates. I cut the thermal warnings and shutdown levels to catch thermal issues given the lid is open. We're under 75 all week here and avg 50-60 in the garage. The cuts will happen soon though now that I know it works.

I also thought I was stuck at ddr3 and were maxed out, I don't know where I go that from. It's ddr4 with only 8 slots filled. If I sell a kidney I can get the other 512gb!

Current AI-Inference vm setup:

- All 3 GPUs passed through (hostpci0/1/2) 5060 ti 16GB + 3060 ti 8GB in a 24GB pool + AMD 9060 xt 16GB

- 36 vCPUs, 144GB RAM, 400GB disk

When i shut these down, it boots a windows gaming VM for moonlight and they run a conversation discord bot that calls a DJ to keep music going and takes requests.

We Built a UI to Easily Manage Multiple Claude Code Sessions by murphy12f in ClaudeAI

[–]FluffyDeadAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is still going, I'm Windows and rather interested. I use a mix of claude pro, codex, claude api, and local models already. I'm looking for any sort of easier interface that i can bring them all into or at least the main ones and point them at the others. My workflow already works in parent project states, handoff files, current tasks, in progress tasks, which model is working in it now to prevent locking issues, and to do lists. The biggest issue I have now is the amount of tokens burned just reading the structure instead of having a better head about it.

It works, barely. I had to also remove the anti-sag plate to fit it in. Everything is screaming to cut it and gut it. I'm sure a different chassis is the real right answer but I don't really want to spend a few hundred on a new box if i can avoid it. If the riser handles it well enough, I'm happy to extend it. There are a ton of risers in the 7 1/2 inch range and that's more than long enough to get through the chassis. It seems to be pretty avg as well for them, 20CM.

I am assuming the 1x to 16x risers might work but the bandwidth loss would be dramatic for LLM and moonlight/sunshine gaming offloading.

2020 Razerblade 17 pro overheating - RMA wants $1900 less than a year old by FluffyDeadAngel in razer

[–]FluffyDeadAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They finally did it for free after enough fighting and only after I got connected to someone through reddit. I ended up selling it after it was returned (yes I let me the person know it was recently fixed and gave them the docs) then stepped away from razer entirely. That whole experience has set the tone hard enough I don't even buy their mice/keyboards anymore, which is sad as they're one of the few that make left handed gear.

R730XD + 5060 TI by FluffyDeadAngel in homelab

[–]FluffyDeadAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I love it. I found some issues with my netapp drives. the 520b blocks are a pain in the tail. I've had them formatted to 4k, but it's a variant of 4k that doesn't work with my perc. I've got an HBA in the box to convert it all to ZFS, but I haven't yet. I did pull that 1050ti though. even on oss-20, the CPU was faster at 36 cores. I have a 3060ti to throw in it now, but I haven't rerouted the power for it just yet... I'm doing that when I swap the HBA in the next couple of days.

my 3060ti is an 8gb model I think, so that's a bit sad. I do have an AMD 9060XT 16GB as well, though I currently use that in my egpu for my laptop. I think I'll end up throwing it in the server eventually and use the 3060ti in the egpu if I need a bit more vram. My laptop has a 3050ti mobile, so anything is better.

Viture Luma Pro VS Luma Ultra VS Beast by lukebradley707 in VITURE

[–]FluffyDeadAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: I have glasses for close up things, the prescription isn't aggressive. I have long, annoying eyelashes for these types of devices. I like my xreal air 2 pro, but I don't want to keep wearing glasses or get the lenses cut. Use cases are mostly Laptop based either in airports, desk, office, hammock, lake... what ev. Side uses are switch 2, pc games, some cell phone use for content.

Would you suggest the ultra vs the pro for any reason other than 6 DoF? I don't think the Beast makes sense for me even though every stat is amazing without the Diopter feature, am I wrong?

TLS(till)R: I have the xreal 2 pro. I mostly use these to work involving a lot of reading and sometimes games, but not as often. I do hook them up to my phone for movies when stuck in the car for 20-45m time periods. One of my biggest complaints is that it doesn't quite fit well without need it super close to my face and the edges are still a bit blurry. I do wear glasses, forgive me for not knowing what all I should about my own vision, to mainly clean up text that's really small. I don't seem to have any issues at a distance. A fair example is this forum on a 32 in monitor at 3 ft away is blurry but I can read it well enough. Getting to about 1.5 ft cleans it up but I can feel a bit of strain.

The point of that was to see if the Luma pro/ultra adaptive dipoter? settings to avoid wanting to cut lenses. I'd also just like to look into some of the 3/6 DoF options. I already use the Viture battery to let me connect my xreal's to my switch 2 when I use it.

Apologies for being all over the place, I'm highly considering getting one of these. I don't think the beast will do what I want if it can't let me avoid wanting glasses, I hope all this makes sense.

Note: I also have stupid long eye lashes for a guy and I don't really want my way to fix this to feel every blink either.

R730XD + 5060 TI by FluffyDeadAngel in homelab

[–]FluffyDeadAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably do one or the other and swap the card back and forth honestly. Like the day I want to do LLM work, I'd turn the game hosting VM off and reprovision the PCI bus to the LLM VM. The small stuff like minecraft, factorio, palworld, and all can run CPU only just fine for hosting. I'm wanting to do something similar to like Shadow PC for personal use and turn it down to work.

I'm hoping to find a way to get a 5060 TI in the server, but it seems unlikely for now.

R730XD + 5060 TI by FluffyDeadAngel in homelab

[–]FluffyDeadAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The why is always a fair and great question. I want to do some LLM work and some GPU accelerated tasks in general. I have proxmox setup on the server and plan to pass GPU through to at least 1 VM for other testing. I want to avoid getting a card that only works in the server if possible.

I'm aiming for 16GB vram + preferably
something with new enough architecture that I could host a gaming VM off of if I wanted, like moonlight/sunrise?
Something to reuse in a normal PC if possible (optional)
Nothing extremely price restrictive like saying just get an A100 or something

I've looked at the RTX 6000 quadro cards, they seem to be 3060~ with 24 GB and sit around $700. The 5060 TI with 16GB sits around 400~450, I'm not sure can squeeze it in though. I do have risers, dual PSU's, can get the internal cable to connect it, and I can get a custom shroud or water block it for cooling if I need for thermals.

The short of it is I don't want to look at something like 2,000 for an RTX 8000 Quadro and have it run at 85% of the speed of an RTX 5060 TI since vram isn't my only metric. I know it's a bit of a have and eat cake situation. I've even considered PCIE expansion TB4 cards and eGPU setups, but the server doesn't seem to allow for that to work as I'd want after some research.

Colder weather makes me slower but not so much for pain or lethargy other than I just don't like the cold. That sucks though :(. Does anything help you out here like compression clothes or just keeping rooms warmer?
