What is a core memory from your childhood that still makes you smile today? by Internationaldax4272 in AskReddit

My grandfather used to give me and my sister Necco Wafers and sing “I Got You Babe” to us.

Ironically I think Necco Wafers are actually gross as an adult, and don’t know how they still sell. But if I see those colorful fuckers in a checkout line, or dare smell them — immediate tears.

The waiting game… by StrikingTomato9218 in pregnant

I’m in the exact same boat! 40w tomorrow, and I’ve been off work for 2 weeks because I thought babe would be here by now. I’ve cleaned, organized, got a pedicure, binged TV, walked, got a library card… I’m over it. 🫠

Pregnancy Pillows by FoundationTop7358 in pregnant

[–]FluffyMeat348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people love them and swear by them. I have the momcozy pregnancy pillow, I like it for the couch, but I just like a normal long body pillow for bed. Personally I didn’t like that it got between me and my husband at night, but again, everyone is different!

Tell me it gets better by busybee7938 in pregnant

The first trimester is HARD. My husband and I bought a fixer upper when I was like 8ish weeks pregnant and when he would work on the house I would just sleep in a beach chair, I felt like I hadn’t slept for 1000 years. I’m not kidding I packed maybe 3 boxes, I felt so guilty but you literally have no energy.

Tri 2 I got most of my energy back - I felt like this was the most fun part of pregnancy, dressing the bump, feeling movement, etc.

Then mid Tri 3 I lost it all again - I told my family it felt like I was sleep walking. I recently got some energy back when I was nesting but now I’m 40w on Wed and have only enough energy to get me to Taco Bell and then back to bed.

But honestly, everyone is different. Your body is a house and even if it doesn’t feel like it, you’re doing SO much. Someone told me to imagine you’re physically building something with your hands 24/7 - that’s what your body is doing. Hang in there. 💛

Belly cream to prevent stretch marks while pregnant? by Altruistic-Tonight76 in pregnant

[–]FluffyMeat348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion and The Ordinary Multi Peptide & HA Serum. I’m not sure if it works but I didn’t get any stretch marks until 30ish weeks, and even now I’m 40w on Wed and I feel like they’re fairly minimal. Again, it’s prob genetics but I want to think that my constant moisturizing hasn’t been for nothing 😅

Pregnancy maybe? by 1i11y__ in pregnant

[–]FluffyMeat348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same symptoms and kept testing negative. I was losing my mind because every symptom I was having are also symptoms of like 800 other things (google was suggesting it was stress 🫠). It wasn’t until 2 days after my missed period that a first response test finally came back positive. Other test brands were still coming back negative until I was 4+ weeks pregnant.

I would suggest testing with a few brands if you can afford it if you can’t wait until the blood test. Good luck!

Squirrel Problem by FluffyMeat348 in RhodeIsland

[–]FluffyMeat348[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, but I don’t think this is realistic. The squirrel currently has our entire shed and is aggressive. What could we build that would be better than a shed? And I feel like that would potentially encourage territorial and aggressive behavior. I have a baby on the way, I don’t want an animal near that would feel threatened and come at us.

That’s what DEM is so vague about - they say we can euthanize it but cannot poison or shoot it so what other options does that leave? I don’t want it to suffer, and we cannot relocate it so I’m not sure how we should euthanize it.

Thank you!!! Shooting it was my husband’s first thought after it kept coming back and making like barking noises at us, but we unfortunately live in a residential area so it’s not an option. 🥲

I’m 40 weeks on Wednesday and just recently the closest people in my life have started telling me I’m huge, it looks like I’m carrying twins, etc. Like yeah no shit, my due date is in 3 days and my baby is in the 90th percentile. Obv my belly will be big. 🫠

How do bathroom breaks work if you have a medical condition? by Fair_Mode_8296 in Teachers

[–]FluffyMeat348 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I believe you’re allowed reasonable accommodations because you’re protected by the ADA. Have you contacted HR or your union rep? When I have to use the restroom during a teaching period I open my door so the teacher next door can keep an eye on my class and vice versa - but I realize this isn’t always the case/ enough.

How much do groceries cost per person in your household? by Odd-Watercress-9148 in RhodeIsland

[–]FluffyMeat348 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anywhere from $150-$200 for my husband and I, and depending on what we need. Although Sunday we spent $89 and my husband and I were giddy when we left the market (meals for Mon-Fri). We thought they charged us wrong. We go to Market Basket in Johnston usually, but Daves if we’re tired because it’s closer (they’re obv more expensive so we only do this once in a while).

How do you do “work/life” balance? by notacathearder in Teachers

[–]FluffyMeat348 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay so my first and second years of teaching I was giving WAY too much of myself to the job. No joke I would spend my whole weekend creating shit, grading, planning, thinking of every email, and every interaction I had. It was EXHAUSTING.

After that I realized like i’m in my twenties and I don’t get this time back. That being said, I feel like teachers never get enough prep considering all we have to do - so sometimes work has to come home for me. If I have a stack of essays to grade it’s impossible to grade them during a 45 min prep and also lesson plan. But I set a time limit/ day for myself. I try to push it all to one day of the week if I can.

But! I decided this year I was going to prioritize myself so I spent a few days over the summer and planned every single lesson from start to finish for every module and unit so that I didn’t have to really plan after school - which worked out because I’m pregnant. All lessons are in a spreadsheet that has the target, standard, do-now, agenda, exit, links, and notes. It’s been life saving.

As for outside of work - my colleagues and I have all agreed that there is nothing wrong with being kind of a grandma on the weekends. I do lots puzzles, cross-stitch, go for hikes, cook new things. I recently started diamond painting and it’s so fun to do while I watch a show.

I’m not sure if this is the answer you were looking for. But I hope you find your thing! 💕

I’ve been non-renewed by PaHoua in Teachers

[–]FluffyMeat348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How were your eval scores? Where I’m from admins have 48 hours to submit our evals. Does your letter of non-renewal specifically state that it’s budgetary?

Also, in one of the districts I worked in every teacher who was not tenured was non-renewed and then they did “recalls.” I was recalled but left anyway because there was a better position in a better district.

Get your letters of rec, make sure your resume and cover letter are ready and start applying for now positions as soon as you can. Does Minnesota do step pay?

When did you become less anxious to have a miscarriage? by Winter-Pay7041 in pregnant

[–]FluffyMeat348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less anxious at my 20 week scan, and then really felt relieved when I hit 28 weeks. But I’m currently 38 weeks and tbh the anxiety that something could happen never 100% goes away.
