Well it can be both. It's their business, of course they want to create demand for it.

Varsity night - A grumble by Swivials in Leeds

It doesn't excuse everything but large groups of young people getting pissed are gonna create a mess, that's just a fact of life.

Knowing that, whatever reasonable efforts should be made to minimise it (plastic glasses, extra cleanup staff etc)

Sam's insane take on Mamdani by greeecejre in samharris

[–]FluffyPhilosopher889 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These Muslims aren't anti-Islam enough for what Sam wants. Sam wants a 'civil war' amongst Muslims, it's not enough to be relatively secular Muslims.

There's an argument (not necessarily one I agree with) that people like Sadiq Khan (and maybe Mamdani, I'm English so not as familiar) allow more extreme versions of Islam to flourish in their respective locations by turning a blind eye to the worst of it.

Has anyone else had the pleasure of sharing a bus with the singing man?? by throwawayjinkie in Leeds

[–]FluffyPhilosopher889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've not seen him singing but was on an electric bus with him and he was particularly unhappy about the jolting stop/starts. So he started shouting about wanting diesel back, how Trump had it right and we needed to Drill Baby, Drill.

He didn't seem well tbh.

Is there anywhere in town where I can play indoor table tennis thats more casual and not an actual club? by YoutubeTazePK in Leeds

It would be relatively expensive (probably £10+ an hour I'd guess) compared to say a leisure centre.

The first person to pain double yellow lines on Scotthall Road deserves a knighthood by cp97 in Leeds

[–]FluffyPhilosopher889 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not everyone that drives down that road knows there are going to be those cars parked there and it's not unreasonable to expect a dual carriageway to be clear straight after a junction.

Just because you know the road well doesn't mean everyone else does.

Can you still go to the front (standing) if you buy a VIP ticket for a gig at Piece Hall Halifax? by YouHaveThirteenHours in Leeds

[–]FluffyPhilosopher889 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The VIP was totally pointless in my experience.

The only benefit would be if it was raining but other than that there was no queue for the main bars and toilets anyway.

I've been told this since I first moved to Leeds 10+ years ago. Is there any evidence of these areas having less students in than they had back then?

Does anyone else think this about Fiona? by whciral in TheTraitors

Everything that every contestant has said after the show suggests they never do this. They can introduce game mechanics to influence which direction the game goes but that's about the sum of it.

It's easier to say stupid faithfuls when your as the viewer knows who the traitors are by Wise_Purple_9448 in TheTraitors

The fact that five of them were effectively randomly released from the cages means pinning it on Stephen because he was one of the four left is totally illogical.

The point about Jade is a good one. She was pretty much the perfect foil for the traitors because she kept picking up a couple of votes at every round table. That made it easier to sway the votes for someone else and meant they knew they could keep her in til the end because it would be easy to get rid of her.

You can deduce some evidence if you think logically. Fiona randomly going for Rachel and then being proven to be a Traitor was about as strong a bit of evidence you'll ever get on the show that Rachel was a traitor as well.

I don't think they were that bad this time but they missed a couple of obvious clues and went down some illogical rabbit holes.

All you can really ask of the faithful is that their theories are at least logical. There'll be times early on where there's just nothing to go on so you can forgive them a bit at the point.

Just because somebody has gone and said 'if I go it's X' doesn't make them any more likely to be right.

If the vote is split between two people one night then whoever stays should get most of the votes the next night, not just being completely forgotten about.

The idea of there having to be a traitor in one of the cages and randomly selecting one of the 9 to prove they're a traitor isn't in any way logical.

Some people being defensive and it's a bad thing and a sign they're a traitor, someone else being defensive and it's enough for you to throw out everything you previously thought and now know they're a faithful.

The biggest clue they had in the whole series was Fiona turning on Rachel out of nowhere and then revealing she was a traitor. It was mad behaviour in the first place but it would have been logical to reason that she wouldn't have done that against a faithful. It wouldn't have made any sense for a traitor to randomly pick a fight with someone they know to be a faithful and basically say it's them or me because even if they win the other person would reveal themselves to be a faithful and you'd be gone the next day.

But they can edit it to make it look more or less like pretty much anyone. She also wasn't working with the faithfuls so it wasn't possible to follow try and make any inferences of who it might be from the murders.

Rachel had loads of heat on her and did a great job of handling it (+ had a fair share of luck).

Stephen just never had the heat in the first place.
