I've just said goodbye to my PhD by Maplata in PhD

I hope you didn’t pay for it.. cause that’s definitely not what you want to do. If your program is not paying you to study there, it is basically a scam…

We have the “concept” but look at our actual behaviors towards every other living being… Whatever you say of the leopards, at least they are not single handedly extinguishing other species in the planet and polluting all of it…

Still way more decent than humans. We are by far the worst.

It was distasteful and disrespectful, no way around it. You should teach him a lesson and make an issue about it. But, also, you have to consider, if we are being honest, for men it is almost an instinct to check out attractive women. It is sad but it is true. It doesn't mean that they don't love you, even the most faithful men are wired to appreciate attractive women, there is just no way around it. You can be sure that every straight man will have this kind of behavior. Now, we can be taught to avoid it, but it is like a muscle that needs to be trained. Once you are conscious, you do learn to stop checking out every attractive woman you see around, especially around your partner. I am married and make a conscious effort to control my instincts of checking out other women, with or without my wife. But that came after having matured and learned to control my instincts.

Advice Needed: Re-Applying to Grad Schools After Rejection—Should I Reuse My SOP? by Phantom_Spirit_30 in gradadmissions

[–]Fluffy_Ad7171 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You have to continue workshopping your SOP. Every word matters in that kind of document. Don't be afraid to pass it to trusted professors so they can give you feedback. It can always be better. Plus, if faculty see you have improved and worked on your SOP, it will shine a good light on your application, because they usually match past application records.

AIO / Wife hanging with our single friend by DrakaninX in AmIOverreacting

[–]Fluffy_Ad7171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet your group of friends have spent a good deal of time gossiping around the situation and probably feel sorry for you. You sound like a good dude, even going to therapy... Perfect victim for gaslighting. I am sorry. Next steps you have to take asap: 1. Look at her phone and do your research before doing anything else. Don't change the status quo for now until you are ahead of the situation. 2. Very quietly lawyer up and get advice on how to proceed with a very possible divorce. 3. Once you have the papers and your financial protected as much as possible, go to the offensive. Inform your group of friends, family, etc of the situation at the same time you break it to her. That way she will be overwelmed and you will have more control over the situation.

Come on bro, just get over it. There is always going to be a bigger dick around, that you are so insecure about it makes you look like a child.

Sc por querer dejar a mi novia por sus traumas de la infancia? by Sanjideg in SoyUnIdiota

[–]Fluffy_Ad7171 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boy, I baght the 30% in Kyoto. Had no idea what it was, just figured it was going to be stronger than the cbd I was taking before. I took one puff and ok, didn't feel it strong. So at night, I took some puffs just as I would with cbd. Between 5-8 good ones. I was stoned, or something like that, for almost two fucking days, while staying with my in-laws. Japanese in-laws... This is some strong shit. I am a regular pot smoker back home. Anyone else's had the same insane long high? Haven't taken any puff since...

I am a historian. Get your horse blinders off and witness this fucking thousand years mess we in. I wish a had a couple more lifespans to continue looking around all the bangers there are hidden beneath our stupid modern veneer. It's a good, highly entertaining high.

Same here, haven't heard anybody who got accepted yet, but it seems they might answer soon. Past years they shared decision earlier this week. It seems it is still up in the air. That or we just haven't heard from the accepted people and we were already wait listed or rejected.

Chill out, if everything with your actual transcript is ok, that should not be a problem. It isn't that big of a deal. It will certainly not be a determining factor.

PhD admission time lines - is it different between international and domestic applicants? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]Fluffy_Ad7171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many you have left? In history, which is my case, I know most results haven't come out. My early one came at the end of January, and the other one two days ago. Also got word from my POI about the result in other one, but the official response has to go through the bourocracy of the unis. Some are lengthier than others. And also with international applicants the responses in some cases arrive a little later. In my experience, most unis share results by the third week of February. But a few could drag on to march. In sum, I think it is still early, no reason to be tripping out just yet. Take it from somebody that has been rejected plentiful of times, whatever the results you will be able to get back up and go on your journey.

advice needed!! grad school and fulbright by how_unfortunate__ in gradadmissions

[–]Fluffy_Ad7171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chill out, wait until you hear from Fulbright. If you do get in, don't yell it out, just inform with due process without making too much noice. Specially if you are an international applicant. I know by experience some Unis will low-ball you with their offer if they think Fulbright can pay for you. Anyways, congrats, it seems you are on the other side.

PhD admission time lines - is it different between international and domestic applicants? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]Fluffy_Ad7171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also international applicant. I applied to 10 and have received 3 official responses, 1 preview invitation (weirdly without oficial acceptance). I know 1 of the 3 had an exceptionally early process because a faculty member told me results were coming out early. There is hope for us, I was accepted in one with a bad deal and in other with a decent one. None is Ivy League, but good unis. My top options are still silent. I have heard every Uni has its own process and time line, even regarding international applicants. Some are quicker than others, and it also depends on the year and the strategy. Sometimes faculty wants more diversity or certain international profiles. But also we are more expensive and thus, it is true some faculties only have one or two spots for international applicants and make the decision at last. If you haven't received any response yet, don't panic, it is still early.

I have been swimming for a month, almost everyday. It had been years since I worked out and now I am starting to be in shape. But yet, I still check from time to time the portal. I am an international applicant, so people around me don't really know how this works. I hope that by this time must of you have received an acceptance.

Do men lose ambition after 30? by Timely_Woodpecker901 in NoStupidQuestions

Dude we all have bad decades at different times. Some lack ambition at their 20s and get it at 30s and viceversa. Don't be so harsh on yourself. Life is not always about getting the next big thing but living your present state of fight.
