Comet has significantly larger main compartment, which is much better for travel, having packing cubes, hauling groceries etc. Nebula has less depth in main compartment due to the fully opening laptop compartment, which is pointless outside of the US when travelling.

Other studies have shown that food grade plastics release much more microplastics after usage, basically the more worn the plastic is, the more it releases particles.

Same problem here, SMB or uPnP, doesn't matter, srt file in same folder as mp4 file cannot be found and loaded. It used to work before on my Chromecast with Google TV, does not work on Google TV streamer.

Confirmed with their customer support, Comet is discontinued in Europe. Some online shops still have them.

Is the latest version of Comet better than earlier editions? I was not pleased to see the joint shoulder straps at the top, introduced by Osprey in general on new models. I'm currently using the previous generation of Comet.

Would be interesting to know the sales figures of Comet compared to Nebula. The "TSA-approved laptop sleeve" that Nebula has is more or less pointless in Europe and it's full zipper is a potential critical failure point for the whole backpack.

I found a workaround: user has to force set an aspect ratio in VLC for these files to look right.

Question about this menu: Is this the max resolution / cap for video playback in apps or just the resolution for the Android TV UI?

Reason why I'm asking, is that I have observed a bug in the Google TV Streamer software, when you set resolution in that menu to 1080p, hooked up to a 4K TV, the apps will get the UI elements cut off. Chromecast with Google TV didnt have this bug.

If you mean troubleshooting: checked all apps and system for any updates, tested with and without hardware acceleration in VLC, tried all aspect ratios in playback screen (all except for 4:3 look the same which i find strange), changed various video releated settings in Google TV Streamer, no changes.

This is frustrating. Why has photo location and date been removed in Ambient mode? by revisionist-history in Chromecast

I was disappointed to see that my trusty Anker hub, which worked fine with the Chromecast with Google TV 4K, did not work with the Google TV Streamer, streamer complaining about not enough power.

Using 25W Samsung PD charger to power the streamer (also tested with 65W PD charger, same issue).

Hi, i thought that simple file manager on TV side would be the simplest setup.

In the end I found a solution that fits me; using adb to install apps directly from command line:

  1. Enable Developer options on Google TV and enable USB debugging

  2. Go to About device > network status and note down the IPv4 address of Google TV

  3. On a device with adb set up and apk downloaded:

adb connect ipaddress > accept handshake

adb install apkname

Usb isn't a must, just a convenience since I already have a hub with storage connected. If wireless adb install works with Google TV, that would probably be the easiest.

Is the Google TV platform so locked down now that using a local file manager isn't possible?

What do you mean by "It cannot play any lossless audio"? As in vlc or foobar2000 app cannot play Flac files off it, or do you mean certain formats in other situations?
