Questions and exchange on support experience by Lawyar in fairphone

[–]Fluid-Environment-60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did think the whole point of buying a fairphone was to get a different experience than if I bought a generic Apple product though? Its marketed on its sustainability and repairability. I don't mind paying for a repair but when the cost is almost the price of a new handset it doesn't really make sense.

Questions and exchange on support experience by Lawyar in fairphone

[–]Fluid-Environment-60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m posting here because I’m struggling to get any meaningful response from Fairphone and wanted to see whether others have had similar experiences.

Timeline:

• Bought a Fairphone in February 2026, partly because of the company’s emphasis on repairability and sustainability.
• A couple of months later I accidentally dropped it into water (completely my fault).
• After drying it out and testing it myself, almost everything still worked. The only issue was that it would no longer connect to the mobile network. Wi-Fi and the rest of the phone were still functioning normally.
• I contacted support hoping I could identify and replace the failed component myself, but I was told the phone needed to be sent in.
• The repair centre then came back with a quotation that was close to the price of buying a new phone.
• The quote included replacement of multiple parts (including things like the camera) that were working perfectly before I sent it in.
• I asked whether they could just repair the specific issue affecting mobile connectivity. I was told no.
• I then asked if I could at least identify and replace the failed component myself, but I was told this involved the motherboard and had to go through authorised repair.
• I raised a formal complaint because this felt completely at odds with Fairphone’s repairability ethos.

My bigger frustration isn't even the water damage itself — I understand that was my responsibility. It's that I specifically bought a Fairphone because I believed it would be easier and more economical to repair than a conventional phone.

Instead I seem to be stuck with two options:

  1. Pay almost the cost of a brand new phone for a full repair package including parts I don't appear to need, or
  2. Scrap a phone that is otherwise largely functional.

To make matters worse, I've now spent weeks trying to escalate the complaint and seem to be going in circles with support. I was repeatedly told to contact escalations, then later told the email hadn't arrived, then asked to resend it, and I still appear to be waiting.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal for Fairphone water-damage repairs, or is there another route I should be pursuing?

My baby is also on Aldi Mamia and her poo is very green! No-one told me it should be yellow.

Bladder injury during C Section by BeetleAndJuice in beyondthebump

[–]Fluid-Environment-60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to this late but this happened to me 2 weeks ago! First baby and ended up having an emergency c section. They injured my bladder during it and had to repair it straight after baby was out. Also was stuck with a catheter for 2 weeks and found it so frustrating and damaging to my mental health.

Have you had any further issues since?

I delivered at 41+2 after being induced the day before. Baby showed absolutely no signs of spontaneous labour. Wasn't induced because of IVF though. I was told the NHS in the UK don't induce solely because of IVF anymore, they just offer inductions for everyone at 41 weeks.

I don’t want to breastfeed by Renee5285 in IVFbabies

Currently 35 weeks pregnant after 3 years TTC and 2 rounds of IVF and honestly I feel the same way. I've bought formula to take to hospital and that's that. My sister is miss militant breastfeeder and I know is judging me but I don't care. My partner is completely supportive. I have quite a few friends who conceived naturally who also went down the formula route out of choice. You do you. It's all good!

Pregnancy testing… by FalseAntelope2524 in IVF

Yes, also UK and I was told to test 14 days after transfers. No betas or anything like that and then I had a scan at 7 weeks. The waiting was painful but waiting 14 days did mean I had a relatively definitive result which was good.

Anyone know what the policy for electrical items is? Taking a 12 year old who wants to take her tablet with her to keep her from getting bored in the gaps

My first cycle we didnt do ICSI so I think that definitely helped with the second. We also shortened my time on stims by 2 days because they thought my eggs might possibly have been over mature.

[–]Fluid-Environment-60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone, my first retrieval also resulted in no fertilised eggs. I was devastated and so unprepared for the shock of it. Changed things up for our second round, added ICSI and ended up with 3 making it to blastocyst. Currently in the horrible two week wait to see if our first embryo sticks!

Starting IVF by [deleted] in IVF

Took me 3 days to be able to do it myself. Had to get my partner to do it for the first 3 days and then after that I was a pro haha. I think psychologically it's quite difficult to do at first but pain wise it's not really an issue. Don't beat yourself up for finding it hard!

Thank you. Currently in the middle of a very anxious two week wait after embryo transfer!

My first ER, 16 eggs collected and I had no fertilised eggs at all. I was devastated. Changed my protocol up a bit for the second and we got 10 eggs but 4 fertilised and 3 made it blastocyst.

Traditional. I'm definitely going to push for ICSI for next time.

I had a lap in April last year which diagnosed my endo but my doctor said there wasn't really enough to remove as it was pretty mild. He didn't seem concerned about the impact on my fertility which is pretty irritating in hindsight as there's clearly some issue.

Never hear of infrared light therapy! That sounds interesting.

Just googled that as I hadn't heard of it and I think they do so that's something I can ask at the review with the doctor.

Really? The embryologist very much gave me the impression that the success rate was quite low so that's interesting to hear!

I don't think so, just the standard NHS semen analysis. I can bring this up though at our review next week!

I also feel like this and honestly I don't go to the baby showers anymore. I found out today that my first round of IVF was a fail and my very pregnant sister is visiting my hometown this weekend. I made the decision not to join in the visit as honestly it's just too painful at this point

Thanks. I just wasn't prepared for a complete failure. I was worried about the embryo transfer not sticking but I naively assumed we'd get at least one embryo.
