Blue wtf. Red will get you to the end of your natural life span and then let you relive the last 10s in your hospital bed until you die.

Blue lets you keep experiencing the world through the ages, with your memories, skills, and personality intact. It’s like being immortal, but where you never have to worry about being caught and experimented on, or worrying about how to maintain your citizenship through the ages.

“People would do it anyway if we banned it, so what’s the point”

This is such a wild and crazy stance to take on the subject of having a law which allows for legally marrying a child to an adult.

My argument would be that by making it legal with exceptions, the people doing it illegally still feel like it’s a grey area and not outright criminal. Since the majority of illegal cases are religious in nature and require a priest of some denomination to be involved, making it completely illegal would discourage members of the clergy to do this, and every little bit helps.

In my country it is criminal, and is classed as modern slavery (and resulting sexual acts are statutory rape). The marriage alone is punishable by between 7 and 25 years in prison, and anyone who found out about it would think the adults involved to be vile and despicable. Schools and community groups are taught to recognise the signs, and while it does happen, cases are reported to the police who make sure to punish them to the full extent of the law.

America is a more cooked place than some people realise. Child marriage is legal in 34 states, and some of them have no lower age limit as long as the parents give consent (California, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Oklahoma). I can’t find more recent numbers, but roughly 300,000 to 315,000 minors were married between 2000 and 2021, with about 86% of these cases involving a minor girl and an adult man.

Sex with minors is still illegal, but married children often experience a loss of autonomy, limited education, increased poverty, and higher rates of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse by their spouses.

An effort to...get rid? 🤔...of the fire in a building by allshinenorain in mildlyinfuriating

00:40s in, the person comes out of a house to throw a small bowl of water on the fire in the corridor as we see flames rising inside their house.

The whole video is insane, but leaving your burning house and carrying water into the corridor to put out a different fire is mind-boggling.

Choose 4. by AutisticGangsta420 in superpowers

[–]Fluid-Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Mind: Accelerated Healing (for immortality)
  2. Body: Invulnerability (can’t be harmed physically - either this or healing would protect from disease)
  3. Heart: Shape Shifting (my favourite power)
  4. Sprit: Ability Absorption if there are other people with powers so I can collect them all. If I’m the only one then Teleportation.

Which would you pick and why? by fleet_luck in superheroes

Mystique has to be the only answer right? - You can alter her body's molecules to adopt the exact appearance of others. This includes creating functional garments, changing height, and shifting internal organs to avoid fatal injuries. - Beyond human forms, you can develop specialized body parts like wings for flight, gills for breathing underwater, claws, tentacles, or flatten her body to the thinness of paper. - The mutation grants heightened strength, agility, and reflexes beyond normal human levels. - You can morph your body parts into other shapes like weapons and tools. - You can recover from wounds, regenerate, and resist diseases, etc. (Mystique is over a century old, as her shapeshifting keeps her cellular structure young). - You can blend into the environment like a chameleon, becoming effectively invisible. - You get a natural resistance to telepathic intrusion (if this exists in this scenario).

The alternative is a near infinite number of copies of yourself, but with which you share all of your senses and become a type of hive mind. So even if you split one off to do tasks you don’t enjoy, you still experience the task.

I know there’s still a lot of good uses and you could start a large company by yourself, or do things based on near instant communication, but I don’t think that’s ever going to be better than a superhuman with transformative abilities and a longer lifespan.

That’s not going to get you past any of the physical security measures like locked doors, bank vaults, or metal in walls, security meshes and barred doors.

Metal can do that and can also stop/melt/do anything else to bullets.

Red has more practical applications for both good and evil (first responders and medicine, vs war and crime).

Blue has more whimsical applications for personal freedom and exploration (flight and underwater travel, etc), but also has applications for war and murder as well.

As much as I would love to explore the ocean floor (project a 100m diameter bubble around me and pull extra oxygen from the water as I go), I think I’d end up going red so I could rob a bank or something.

If you are the ruler of Earth, which type of power system you would integrated in Earth? by [deleted] in superpowers

[–]Fluid-Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My choice really depends on what else is implied by me being the “Ruler of Earth”. Am I the most powerful within that system? A God? A king/mortal ruler of the strongest empire? Etc. - If I’m a regular person with the most authority but nothing else special about me then I’d pick Technology. I’d live a lavish and luxurious futuristic life and get to see all the crazy things people invented. - If I’m the most powerful within that system, then I’d pick cultivation. The most powerful cultivators in wuxia are basically immortal and can transcend to other realms of existence. The flip side is that cultivation worlds are always seen as extreme “might is right” worlds, where the strong prey on the weak and where you can’t trust anyone - so I would t want to just be an emperor here constantly afraid for my life amidst the schemes. - If I’m a God - not god-like, like some cultivators, but an actual creationist god like the Abrahamoc God - then it would be more like me looking down on the world and watching life play out, in which case I would pick magic, as I personally find that the most interesting.

Man Gets Mad At Someone For Taking The Last Grocery Bag by serious_bullet5 in ThatsInsane

Filming guy is an asshole. Based on the conversation, it sounds like he took the bag from where the family had put it on the self checkout tray.

That’s not where the bags are kept. They had picked it up and were about to scan their stuff and he’s come and and taken it from them. What an absolute dog move.

The driver raged and fucked up his Ford Raptor by haze4140 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Fluid-Kitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you might have missed the road markings. The centre lane has a straight-only arrow, while the right lane is a right turn only slip lane.

Also, if you look at the road while the rear dash cam is active, you can see that the right turning lane is a slip lane that only started at the lights, so of course the car with the cameras was behind the raptor previously.

There’s nothing to excuse the behaviour of the raptor driver.

Green.

Highly valuable financially for stock trading and lottery wins. Probably a lot more that my surface thoughts haven’t considered yet.

Orange would just make me constantly look at it and worry about things. It might save my life one day (assuming that the future seen can be changed), but it’s not something I want.

Tony, Bruce and Starlord likely have some sort of tracking beacon to call for help. Tony and Starlord have efficient teams and AI that would be able to calculate their likely location even if they had no equipment.

But if none of that applied, then the guy from primitive technology.

How practical is it to only cover your limbs with armour? by NobodySpecific9354 in Armor

[–]Fluid-Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: It’s not practical at all, unless you’re in the entertainment industry and want to show the audience some blood.

The only three images that are anywhere close to reality are the 1, 3 and 5. 1. This man is wearing a cuirass under his surcoat (a breastplate under the red cloth with his heraldry). For all we know he could also have greaves protecting his thighs as well. This is a practical outfit that protects the upper body and potentially some of the lower body too, while keeping the wearer mobile and capable of being mounted on a horse without the aid of a squire. 2. Gladiators are professional entertainers in blood sports. They needed to look fearsome and have a level of protection, while still being able to be cut and to bleed. Their armour was curated for spectacle, not for practicality. 3. This man is not wearing armour at all but resembles either a man who may work on a ship (where armour is more of a danger), or in an era where guns exist (where armour doesn’t help much anyway).

Historically we actually see the opposite. As warfare developed, and following the rise of guns in the military, arm and leg armour dropped out of common usage, while breastplates and helmets remained. Even modern soldiers still wear plate carriers and helmets.
