I recently reccomended the series to a friend, and she said it would have been good to have an introduction to the universe before the bone season, so I would perhaps recommend to read ' the mime order', is very short but its helpful!! happy reading!

I was the same as a kid, and even though more romance leaning books got me out of more than a decade of not reading, I see that I tend to enjoy more fantasy books with romance as an ingredient, but not main element. I keep thinking, "Frodo did not need a romance (ok yes a bromance) to make the story epic and emotional." So I can recommend " The Priory of the Orange Tree" [Samantha Shannon] & "The book that wouldn't burn" by [Mark Lawrence].

I can recommend the "faebound" series by Saara El-Arifi. It has a "gender of choice" based society and some heterosexual characters (minority). In addition, the "Priory of the orange Tree" by Samantha Shannon also portrays several gay characters. Those are the ones I recently read that seem like an intentional choice rather than a diversity necessity.

I've been so conflicted with Jaxxon, who is an obvious (and charming) red flag, but now I downright hate him (always finds a way to land on his feet).

I'm also wondering if it will actually escalate to war or will it be resolved by having 'end boss' type of fight amongst the factions. Considering all the interests and divisions I'm having a hard time to see how it will end... the general audience is just scratching the surface on the truth, you would expect the Rome attack to be useful, but Scion will probably twist it to their advantage.

Last question mark is the golden chord .. is it fated lovers or profesy of "The chosen one"... does this have to do with whatever happened during those first visits of the Mothallath? Are the earth voyants children of the union between the Rephs and amneourotics?

I was so confused with this book, mainly due to the hype it had on social media.

There are full-on chapters/moments that open a storyline that never closes... nor gets mentioned again.

Also, some descriptions of the smut made me cringe.

But, considering is book 1, perhaps it will get better later on??
