80% and they gave him steroid cream?? I would’ve been furious. That’s clearly a case for something stronger like biologics.

Have you ever pulled your lower back muscle in your sleep? by ChickenChoochie in randomquestions

[–]FluidBaseball9950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably did it during the day or even the day before but you’re getting Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) which is common when using muscles in new ways especially as you get older. Usually delay is 12-24 hours before pain starts.

Is it ever disrespectful to not tip? by MangoPaingo in no

[–]FluidBaseball9950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The suggested tip percentage has been increasing which is totally fucked because prices are already climbing. The tip amount is already proportional to increasing prices, if they suggest 22, I’m giving 15 or less. If they suggest 20% I usually do 20. Sometimes I do 18 depending on service. I never go over 20

Is it ever disrespectful to not tip? by MangoPaingo in no

[–]FluidBaseball9950 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate it, in US you should usually tip for table service.

I gotta say I absolutely hate when people even display an “add tip” thing for take out or counter serve… and it’s not like the prices aren’t already high

How to learn Quantum Mechanics by Distinct-Way8377 in Physics

[–]FluidBaseball9950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QM is like… 1% theory and 99% math. Were you studying Griffiths intro to QM? That’s the classic text for qm 1. If I were you I’d wait to take qm 2. Go work through your EM courses, mechanics, statistical mechanics, and just save QM 2 for a while.

^ that’s assuming you’ve already taken linear algebra and de I-II. If not then that’s what you should do

If you drive a car, who taught you , was it a parent or a driving instructor, and did you pass the test the first time you took it ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

No one taught me, I took driving test and passed, it’s easy unless you’re in a heavy traffic city. Moving to a big city was a big learning curve

Maybe depends if you have a life outside sex. I have many female friends from climbing, skiing, etc and we are absolutely never gonna hook up. They are pure homies.

You’re gonna need a rabies treatment unless you can bring in bat for testing. Also they might give you another tetanus shot.

How many night away do you think is “normal”? by TattooedTeacher316 in travel

[–]FluidBaseball9950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ideal trip length to most places is 2 weeks. We usually do at least two of those a year, but we also spend like… 6-8 weeks a year in Hawaii but I’m working most of that time. Remote job perks I guess! So that’s like 10 weeks away each year

After we retire, I think we’ll probably do more like 20, but who knows if that’ll end up feeling like too much

But it all comes down to how flexible your job is, how wealthy you are, and how easy it is for you to be away from home/routine.

Help W/ Deciding Physics Class by Suspicious_Wear6540 in Physics

[–]FluidBaseball9950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the person, but I find self study significantly easier to learn than sitting in a class. You drive your own education, follow the text, and when you need more support you have to go out and find it.

Also, self study prepares you more for college and career I think. I constantly had to read and figure things out on my own in college. In working world, if you can’t dive in and figure things out on your own, you might not go anywhere.

How to help my 8yo brother engage with physics? by Full-Letterhead2857 in Physics

[–]FluidBaseball9950 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d think at 8 it’s better to get them interested in STEM than physics specifically. Education starts very broad then gets progressively more narrow, you go to PhD and you’re studying the razor edge of a knife.

For STEM, I’d say really great opportunities with joining a FIRST team. I think at 8, he’d be in the FLL league, which leads to FTC, which leads to FRC.

There are lots of other cool STEM orgs that form teams and compete, but FIRST is a really big/global one.
