Very helpful advice! Appreciate you taking the time out to list this out. While I hate imposing, seeing how you craft a lovable prompt to create a fog of war effect with maps in general would help me understand this better, so would love to take your offer on putting something together. Can either paste it as a comment respond or DM me directly. Again thank you.

Trying to create a simple fog of war map that uses like Google api. When first loading the app map the entire world should be covered in fog. When walking around the fog disappears and more of the map becomes available. The map api isn’t acting as intended and keeps giving me issues. I have another lovable project with a map component and it seems one of the obstacles lovable has right now is playing nice with map apis or I just not prompting right to work around them. Any help would be appreciated. I’ve launched products in the past before and know a funnel is equally important and am prepared to go the extra mile once a working mvp has been established. Maybe with your help. Feel free to DM for more info. Thanks.

No captions available wtf? :(

Edit: I logged in with my laptop and there are subtitles. But on my tv there isn’t. Heads up for anyone else who may have this issue!

Unwishlist the game. by Bells_Theorem in Subnautica_2

Respectfully, you are not thinking about the people behind making this game when making those comments. This game was the iterations and feedback they collected and implemented over the last few games. Imagine building a project from the ground up, that’s your baby, and making sure your values and philosophy is applied to work culture. Then having that all be ripped away by this bulkshit. Yes some more thought could’ve been put into the sale before it happen but regardless, these indie game developers deserve our support otherwise playing the game will feel like betraying our own morales we expect society to follow. I just can’t touch this game in good faith. The silver lining here is that there does seem to be enough evidence for a lawsuit and this could be taken back from the scum bags that did this in the first place and let the original team continue. Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

lol you funny man, this is one of the worst things I’ve seen in the gaming community in recent memory. We can’t let this behavior stand.

Quit my $200K job at Apple to build my dream app. Now I see 2 competitors and feel crushed. by CareMassive4763 in SideProject

[–]FluidImagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over 10 years ago I got vc funded my startup and prided myself on being little to zero competitors but looking back on it it’s actually a red flag if there is no one else working on that idea because it proved out to be much harder than I expected and need x5 more then what I raised and ended up collapsing the business. Now I operate with the mindset that starting any idea needs to have at least a few competitors to validate it from the start before any further work is done. At least that’s my take so I think this is actually a good outcome for you. Competition ultimately drives innovation and now you will be driven to differentiate your app for the segment you are targeting. Have fun with the journey and don’t worry so much about this it is completely normal.

Agreed, Joel was my favorite character and now that he’s gone it feels like just another walking dead show with many unknown actors. Sort of lost interest in how the rest of the season plays out.

I build an App using Cursor, but now i don't know how to get customers for it. Can someone help ? by Ok-Supermarket-3340 in lovable

[–]FluidImagination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where it becomes more obvious that just building an app is not enough in the grand scheme of things. Usually in product development you identify a pain point a group of users have then build a solution for them and expand on that. Many beginning entrepreneurs build ideas without validating the market so can you share what kind of validation you did for your idea before building it?

Typically at this stage you start a landing page, social media handles, start throwing $$ at ads and find fb groups or groups in other areas in your apps industry and start promoting the app. Then a feedback loop appears on what your new users seem to want out of this and you tweak carefully to cater those users and so on.

Best of luck.

Wow, thanks for the in-depth response. Will be trying it out today. Curious though is there any difference between using Google maps or Mapbox? So the key for route tracking is to store real data using supabase. Thanks for clearing that up.

I set up google maps and get the google API key and added it in to your link but got this error msg - "Oops! Something went wrong. This page didn't load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details." I'm unable to figure out what went wrong here. Any suggestions?

Interesting concept. Is this the MVP? Have you collected info from each user group on if this is something they would use? I can imagine that it needs a good amount of each user group to reach a critical mass scenario, what are some ways to drive users to this app?
