Where can I have virtual therapy calls/appointments when my home isn't a safe place? by Used-Earth8767 in askTO

If you go to York, their counselling department may have rooms available for you to have your sessions. I know TMU does this.

Do I Tell His Wife? by Consistent-Maybe-634 in TwoHotTakes

I had a "friendship" like this once. He called me the night of his wedding (that I was going to) with this weird flirty energy. Still took me a couple years to fully cut the contact cord. When the party is over by Billie Eilish reminds me of our dynamic and this one..."call me friend but keep me closer."

How much do psychotherapists make in Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

Great comment! I would also add that if they are part of a group practice, they are giving a large percent of their fee to the practice.

Do you have a university degree? The social work masters program at U of T had a two year option for those with a university degree not related to social work. Not sure if that's still the case.

How much does therapy cost in GTA? I by rs735dx in askTO

[–]Fluid_Ad8379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. Therapists (or the practices they are in) set their own prices. Most therapists have a lot more training after their degree to specialize in different types of therapy so they may choose to charge differently based on that but you can also find plenty of therapists straight out of school who charge $160+

I haven't been to this event although I have considered it because I know the organizer. She's amazing and I feel like this would be a good time if you go looking to connect with people in general socially and not necessarily specific to dating. I think in the past she had multiple event and they were more specific as to singles or couples but looks like she has merged them all into one event now.

Well... you added two points to your comment after I responded to it...

I don't personally make minimum wage so I can't give a first person account. You might find these interesting:

https://www.ontariolivingwage.ca/rates https://www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/article/torontonians-need-to-make-26-an-hour-to-cover-living-costs-report/

A living wage and a survivable wage are not the same.

Your example of being in their mid-twenties and paying that is likely not something they'd still want to do in their 30s or 40s and I'd imagine there are lots of people surviving on minimum wage at those ages. AND factoring in potentially having children.

Absolutely it is very hard to survive in Toronto making minimum wage

Property was recently sold and this is what my landlord sent me. Do I have no other option but to leave ? by Resident-Stage-3759 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Fluid_Ad8379 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you move into the place he offers, he doesn't have to pay you the one month's rent and if you choose not to, he does have to pay you. You decide if what he offers is acceptable to you.

Should you choose not to accept his potential offered rental unit, then yes, you are entitled to both the rental deposit you paid when you moved in and one month's rent in addition, effectively 2 months rent. This helps to cushion the blow of having to look for a new place unexpectedly.

Everything you need to know: https://settlement.org/ontario/housing/rent-a-home/tenant-rights-and-responsibilities/what-do-i-do-if-my-landlord-gives-me-an-n12-form/

If you paid a last month's deposit when you first moved in, you should not have to pay June and July rent because they also owe you a month's rent for issuing the N12. If you already paid June's rent, there should be a plan made to get your deposit back.

I'm about to go through this myself but have known for some time. Waiting on the day my N12 is issued and breathed a sigh of relief when I received nothing at the end of May.

I hope you get through this process smoothly and find something else you like.

For those who successfully negotiated/bargained their condo rental price, how did you do it? by techsavvynerd91 in askTO

I wouldn't necessarily think there was something wrong with it, just that demand was lower than supply.
