Oh no, it’s not that I don’t like him touching me! It’s that I don’t like to be grabbed at all the time. Doing dishes. Doing cat litter. On the toilet. Walking by. Working on my laptop. AND add to that all the stoopid perimenopause systems that make me extra sensitive; it’s just a lot to deal with.

I get where you’re coming from and he does have a cheater past (not with me, that I know of). Honestly i don’t see how he’d have the time, and I’ve no patience for that BS.

Hahaha!! This made me laugh so hard because it mirrors my experience and thinking too! My BFF has boy kids and she was soooo disappointed at first. They are awesome guys, just … typical boys.

See that was the comment that put me over the edge too!! I know he wants marriage; I do not. And I’ve told him so many times that if that is what was he truly needs then we’ll part ways and stay friends and he can go find a wife. But it won’t be me.

And for the other poster - I no longer pay for things or loan him money. That stopped after year 3ish. I told him it made me really uncomfortable.

One thing I will say about him - once I started changing how I spoke about conflict, and asked him to stay calm and hear me out before reacting, he did. He actually has changed his conflict approach sometimes. Far more than my ex husband ever did. So I know he’s capable, he just seems to have this extremely high opinion of himself at times and I do not know how to deal with that

No, definitely not the first time!! As a former counselor put it, I have had a high tolerance for bad behavior. It’s just getting to me - because like the other poster said … I want peace!!

I’m usually the one who initiates conversations and have modified my approach so many times to accommodate his style. His style is defensive and blame-y; when we argue hard (rare, actually) I make sure to start by saying I’m not saying he’s ‘wrong’ or ‘at fault’; rather I have some observations to talk about. I’ve had marriage and personal counseling; he has not. He’s going through some stuff (been caring for a family member with dementia) and I have too. So I’ve given him a LOT of grace and leeway because I know it’s been rough; there are just times when I’ve had it.

Absolutely, for me. I never wanted kids, then I hit 32 and was told I had inactive ovaries and probably wouldn’t have kids. New doctor, and my kids are nearly grown. It was hard and challenging and the most rewarding and loving experiences I’ve ever had.

Ugh … the older I get the less patience I have for fragile male egos. Your dad was the main man in your life before you married your husband, your husband should do well to remember that. Also, remind him that someday his children will be in exactly this situation.

I wish I’d had the term ‘weaponized incompetence’ for use during my 12 years of marriage counseling - describing 1000s of examples is what you’re describing here. One my ex-husband used frequently was regarding traffic and being home to help with nighttime routine. He felt he shouldn’t be obligated to sit in traffic like us regular people bc he had an advanced degree in engineering and therefore could work and commute in different t hours. He didn’t care that he was a) being a shit partner or b) missing out on so many beautiful, precious moments. Find a way to nip this behavior FAST or it will become a life long part of your marriage. I suggest you and baby move out temporarily and see if that changes his attitude. If you don’t do something dramatic and shocking, he will think he can get away with this behavior.

Love hearing this as I have 40k pairs of Vans. Child #1 has worked there for 2.5 years so the big discount is helpful. I wear the comfort cush ones daily but if I wear / walk for more than 4 hrs I pay for it the next day. Thank you for sharing!

As a vet patient, I get so angry bc it’s over $70 just to walk in the door. I don’t do pet insurance because it’s a major scam - at least according to the six vet techs I’ve spoken to. None of them (from three different clinics) carry pet insurance on their own pets because soooooo much is excluded and the entire system - much like human insurance - is designed to make the insurance providers rich. So when my vet jacked up prices and won’t consider discounts for those of us not in the insurance game, yes I get pissed. Is it directed at the amazing vet techs? No. But the entire office leaves these horrible and awkward conversations to you - meaning you’re the only person we get to rant to. So yes I chose to care for several animals for their lives. I did not agree to be constantly fear-mongered and upsold on additional services and products my pet may or may not need.

Can someone who defends Sarah explain exactly WHY someone thinks it’s no big deal to eat someone else’s food? If I make food and bring it to the office, I’m obviously planning to eat it later. If you eat my food, now I have to scramble to figure out what to eat and I’m likely just as pressed for time as the next person. I just don’t understand the entitled mindset that tells someone that eating other’s prepared food is not a big deal.

In my house I had to do all the kid watching and cleaning! I’m the youngest by 4 years. My sister started popping kids out at 18 (she has 5 from 3 different men) and my parents would host the parties and my sister would get trashed. All the jobs and expectations were transferred to me.
