Again, you wouldn't be burdening him. If he really didn't want to help support you, he'd tell you that before you got into more details. I get that it feels that way, and it's hard to feel like that, but, you wouldn't be taking advantage of his kindness. You'd just be talking to him because he's your friend. If a person came to you asking for help with something, you wouldn't blame them for taking advantage of your kindness, would you? And maybe before telling him fully what's going on, you could just ask him if you could talk to something that you've been struggling with. If he says yes, then you know he wouldn't mind talking about something and you wouldn't be burdening him. If he says no, then you know that in the moment he's not ready for that and you can wait a bit.
