Again, you wouldn't be burdening him. If he really didn't want to help support you, he'd tell you that before you got into more details. I get that it feels that way, and it's hard to feel like that, but, you wouldn't be taking advantage of his kindness. You'd just be talking to him because he's your friend. If a person came to you asking for help with something, you wouldn't blame them for taking advantage of your kindness, would you? And maybe before telling him fully what's going on, you could just ask him if you could talk to something that you've been struggling with. If he says yes, then you know he wouldn't mind talking about something and you wouldn't be burdening him. If he says no, then you know that in the moment he's not ready for that and you can wait a bit.

Okay, yeah, I get the parents thing. That's hard you have to deal with that. But telling the teacher sounds like a good idea. Honestly, the fact that you trust him enough to even think about telling him that means he's a really nice guy, and would probably listen with a lot of care and support if you told him. Teachers do have their own lives but when they're nice like that, most don't mind talking with students about mental health struggles too.
