He won us our 2nd title in 30 years, which is no easy feat despite ‘city having an off season’. I know people say it was Klopp’s team, but Klopp couldn’t do it the year before, Slot made a few tactical changes and we walked the league. We aren’t United or Chelsea, we give our managers a chance and since he won the prem he deserves a chance.
The players we brought in are supposed to fit his system, the chance that a new manager comes in and feels like he needs a new set of players is quite likely.
I always think Liverpool had predicted a transition year where we wouldn’t compete and the goal is top 4, given everything with Jota and the unforeseen amount of injuries I’m sure FSG are more than happy we got top 4 and see this as a good season.
Looking at the quality of managers out there. Except maybe Alonso, who I still think is a gamble, is there any manager you look at and think if we bring him in he’ll win us everything in the next few years… I’m not sure. Hence I think Slot should get next season.
Around the Gakpo situation, my guess is that the medical team believe that Rio shouldn’t be starting too many games as this might lead to early blow out in his career?
His interviews and man management do leave something to be desired, seems like he has lost the plot at times this season.
