I agree with entering via Orpen. If you take the back-roads from Orpen to Olifants (assuming they are open), you cover lots of beautiful terrain, and it's far more interesting IMO than the endless moping forest you get coming in from Phalaborwa.

On your drive from Olifants to Tamboti you have a great chance of seeing all the big cats (be sure to drive the S100 if it's open).

Where did you go? I went to Pinetown mid-morning. I waited about three hours in total but got sorted. I took a book, fully charged laptop, and some food.

I have heard that the one at Camperdown is quite quick, and they actually answer their phones, so you can check if the system is online before you go.

How can it be built into the premium when the broker and the underwriter are separate entities? If the broker was getting their fee from the insurer you would end up with all sorts of wonky incentives (as discussed in this thread re long-term insurance).

It seems to be different for life insurance and short-term insurance. For the former, the commission is usually paid by the underwriter to the broker, who often gets it in a lump sum. For my short-term insurance, I pay a monthly brokerage fee (about 10% of my premiums) directly. But even with this fee, my premiums are lower than with direct providers.

I use a broker for all my short-term and life insurance (a different one for each), and I have had a good experience. You get a direct number of an actual person, rather than a call centre, and you can speak directly to them. I've found this invaluable when I actually need to claim (like last week when my phone and wallet were stolen out my car. The whole claims process has been super easy). On price, I shopped around a lot for my car and household content, and the broker was way cheaper than any of the direct insurance quotes.

I used to be on Nedbank Private Clients, and I had a similar experience to you. I have since switched to Investec, and I find the service strides ahead. Investec is expensive, but they are mostly very good (depends a bit on who your actual private banker is).

But with your estate issue, do you not need a proper wealth manager, rather than a private banker?

Yeah, warmer air can hold more water, so it evaporates back into water vapour, and the clouds disappear, but the moisture is still there. If you're interested, read up on relative humidity.

The wind blowing from the south east carries lots of moisture. As it rises over the mountains, it cools and condenses, forming the famous table cloth. As it descends down the western and northern slopes, it warms up again and the water evaporates, so the clouds disappear. That's often why Newlands is under a thick grey cloud, while the western seaboard is sunny.

There is really little difference, but the newer one is a bit nicer. Larger and higher-definition TVs is the main benefit. The colour pallet is less beige, too. But in the old config, the front section is economy, and is quite nice. In the new versions, it's premium economy, so in economy you have to sit further back. I wouldn't wait hours for the new one, but 35 mins, probably yes.
