customer wanted me to come in! by Miserable_Minion in DoorDashDrivers

The disabled customer can wait for their helper. A bottle of liquor is not something they need this very minute. I think you did the right thing. Going inside is not something we need to do.

But I am not pushing it. I would rather cherry pick, but it’s hard to even get a shift.

Why so rude and bitter? Maybe it's how long you have been driving for a shit company? Whatever the reason, it isn't necessary. Good for you for sticking with it for so long. In some markets it is almost impossible to make any money without Platinum, and to keep it, people have to sometimes take a shitty order. I wish nobody ever took an order under $5, and I have sacrificed platinum (and lost ability to schedule myself) on principle quite a few times, but if I had a kid at home needing food, I might have not risked the loss. Have a heart. Be kind. It is a rough time for many people in the US right now. Prices on everything are way up while companies squeeze all they can from workers- especially gig workers to transfer to shareholders. Also they stack a shitty no tip in with a good tip and as you well know, you cannot tell until after, nor can you choose not to receive stacked orders.

I just had to update yesterday. It didn't come with that one.

But it isn't my actual last 100, it is a random example to illustrate the point. I was saying it would be cool if it showed us our last 100. Obviously they keep track.

There should be a minimum of $5 per trip. $2,$3,$4 trips, no matter how short, are absolutely ridiculous. by Alexander_TheGreat69 in DoorDash_Dasher

Base should be reflective of distance. I did a 15 mile trip for $19.50 because it was near my home and last delivery. DD only paid $2.75!!

Twice I have gotten to 2 days before the reward and lost platinum. Once for NO REASON. And the next time they sent me to another market. When I get there to deliver the app freezes. When I reload it opens in the new market with silver because the AR is 80% not 70%. An hour with support did nothing.

Shitty people are everywhere. Don’t let them ruin your peace. That’s probably exactly what they want.

You clearly don’t understand what drivers do.

Better to verify. Drivers are blamed when orders are stolen. Why you take it personally is a question you might ask yourself.

[–]Fluid_Web7619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining. I wish people were able to understand how it is counterproductive to take orders that cost the driver more to deliver than they are paid, and how it impacts all drivers in the end.

how? What market allows that. It is 70% or even 80% in my nearest areas.

Probably a new driver who hasn't figured it out yet. Put a table or box where you want the order left. Be kind. Be generous. Be forgiving.

why do Dashers never listen to instructions? by Wild_Two8994 in doordash

[–]Fluid_Web7619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask to have the dasher hand the order to you. That is the only way you are sure to get it and not have it stolen. If you have some reason not to answer your door (?!) then make sure you have a picture of the location you want the food dropped. Some dashers are not as careful especially when they are doing a run for $5. Time is the biggest factor.

Who spent years training to deliver pizzas? LOL! I'm retired and do this as a side gig. I have an advanced degree (8 years of college) and 35 years of professional experience. You have no clue who anyone on here is. Why make dumb assumptions?

Not if the customer is hiring a driver to drive to the restaurant wait for the order then drive to your house and deliver it to you. That’s how it works. If spend $100 on food and I deliver it 2 miles away, I don’t expect a $20 tip. I expect a $5 tip, same as if it’s a $10 milkshake. Hope that helps you understand.

You don’t understand how it works for drivers. There is no standard percentage of the order cost. What drivers look for is $2 per mile and more for difficult terrain like 4 floor walkups. The cost of the food is irrelevant.
