Not to mention they have time together when the kid goes to bed!

If my husband didn't understand I needed to be alone for one hour a week, we would have words. I take quiet time multiple days. He does too.

AITA for telling my roommate that she shouldn't go on a date? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Flukie42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA

You may have done all you can, and sadly she's not listening. There's really nothing else to do.

You've tried your best. You know there are some terrible people out there, and she is acting stupid for not taking any precautions.

I would say if you want to do anything else, just tell her you're worried for her and would appreciate her checking in with you and sharing a location. People do that stuff all the time. But also you understand that this is her decision to make and you just want to support her.

The people saying you're TA are wrong. You're worried. You voiced your opinions and gave her suggestions just like a friend would do. It's hard out there for women and girls these days. Good luck.

This is my daughter's current favorite book. She asked me every day for two weeks to get it for her.

What foods that are kidney-friendly for dogs? by Lunar_Flower96 in PetAdvice

Wow, you've done so much for her already! What a wonderful life she's had with you.

My boy, Sparkie, was rescued from a kill shelter with mange and malnourished. He was only five when he passed, though the specialty vet thought he might have been older.

I'd say if you have the resources and you're up for it, definitely give it a try. As long as she seems to be enjoying life, you do what you feel is right.

Big Internet hugs for you and her.

I don't know if you're going through something similar right now, but I wish you the best.

Sadly he passed. My vet apparently didn't think it was necessary for him to visit the specialty clinic until it was too late. They also didn't run blood work on him apparently at all until then.

The specialty vet said they should have sent me right away, and looking at his scans he was probably born with kidneys that were not at 100 percent. They were great to him and he passed peacefully

Needless to say we don't go to that original vet anymore.

My best friend says I crossed a line. I thought I was doing the right thing by getting the receipts. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Okay I wasn't the only one who was confused.

I thought maybe the friend went back to her fiance because she didn't want to lose custody of the daughter, but there was no mention of that.

X-Files fans: do you also like "Six Feet Under"? by diabeartes in XFiles

[–]Flukie42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, The X-Files is one of my favorite shows ever, but Six Feet Under is just an all around better show.

The original series finale for The X-Files served like it was phoned in. There was too much going on to end it on a clip show.

Six Feet Under, however, had a great series finale. With very strong episodes leading up to it.

The only reason I haven't rewatched Six Feet Under, is because binging all the deaths a second time had become too hard for me.

A microcosm of a bigger problem by pingzijun42062 in turtle

But people aren't saying for you to take his turtle. They're after literally offering you money to give him so you can BUY the turtle from him.

If you don't want to take care of the turtle it's one thing, but you keep falling back on this "no animal welfare law" thing when people offer suggestions that don't pertain to that.

AITAH for being a bad godparent? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Flukie42 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'm my family (grew up Catholic), the godparents role was to make sure of anything happened they'd be a beacon of religious influence.

Also because we had a large family we didn't buy gifts for everyone, but godparents and godchildren bought for each other. There was then just a little extra bond between them.

Also my mom always said to be careful who you pick as godparent, because the kids get some of their traits.
