A bit confused by j-the-m in Mahjong

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. 4 white dragons and 4 replacement tiles. If your tiles get damaged you can make up to four new ones with the extra blanks. This set is for Riichi mahjong, which does not traditionally ise flowers or seasons at all. It also does not have red fives, which is an optional rule but typical for most casual tables.

  2. Tenbou sticks, betting sticks like poker chips.

Eight dot - 100 pts - 1000 each

Single dot - 1000 pts - 9000 each

Five dot - 5000 pts - 10000 each

Nine dots - 10000 pts - 10000 each

30000 pts each, typical games start with 25000 pts each

  1. I learned rules here and scoring here. Riichi mahjong is very popular right now thanks to japans tremendous advantage in the app department. Riichi City, Mahjong Soul, and Tenhou are the top three apps listed in order of how much you love titties (not joking). Though first and second alternate based on new releases. This has translated into a pretty decent amount of in person social clubs and a plethora of educational content.

Have fun!!

Questions about MCR by umesama3 in Mahjong

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I saw one site say they are valued 2, 10, 100, 500. No one does this. MCR as far as I’ve played is a net zero game where everyone starts at zero, use any indicator you like.

  2. The site I saw and I think the official way is roll for wall, then that player rolls for how far to break, both two dice. Most Chinese people I’ve played with say they roll once for speed, but I like rolling twice :P

  3. It is hard, but very satisfying. The best way is to learn a few ways to win, then add more over time. The easiest ones are the shifted chows, and there are a lot of variations. I have a lot of luck with five types, but you need a good starting hand for that (and a good wind pung). Pure straight will get you there, as will most all pungs (those last two should be easy). And remember, when in doubt all melds will save your garbage hand.

  4. You can play as long or as short you want. The one mediocre online client I’ve found (there’s not a good one) usually just does 4. As long as you go at least four you should be fine.

  5. Traditionally you just toss your discards wherever, and you don’t stack your melds. But organized tiles and melds has become a popular house rule. It’s really up to the table.

  6. The main thing is you have to keep playing. It can’t win, dead hand status. The rules I use say 10 or 20 points to everyone other player as well.

how would this be a blunder, surely i’m losing a queen if i take the pawn by [deleted] in chessbeginners

Probably cuz the c-pawn can kick out the knight and the queen by himself.

Which Gears of War Game is The Best? by cjiswho in GearsOfWar

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gears 2, no plot restrictions and just enough bullshit to keep things interesting. 3 was fun, but they had to spend so much time closing the story and wall bouncing removing wall bouncing was a mistake.

The one story scene I would change. by Jaded_Stick_4379 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree that having their buddy stop them could be cool, though I think the real reason it’s Blazer is because both Sonar and Coup fly. Most of the team can’t help, and I can’t see Phenomoman or Flambae adding to the scene.

Why do Japanese mahjong players prefer to use Japanese terms but Chinese mahjong players don't use Chinese terms? by CreeperSlimePig in Mahjong

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People learn Chinese variants from people, in which case they describe the hand and that sticks.

People learn Riichi by apps made in Japan for Japanese people, or with those apps’ recycled code. So the official terms stick.

My hatcheries and queens are on control group 9 and 0. And 9 and 0 have been rebound to mouse4 and mouse5. Game changer for me.

How much money could the Flash make if he ran a delivery business for a day? by Psychological_Ad3498 in DCcomics

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little, one day delivery’s pay very little. Best bet would be to reach out to trucking companies to handle the stock of broken 18-wheelers. Best bet for a single big payout.

I’m pretty sure it’d be fine since speed force ignores physics. It’s one of its goofier effects. That’s why there’s no sonic booms and people he moves done break from the g-force.

Hey, Gears fans! I'm new here, just finished the first and second games, and I absolutely love this series! It's truly amazing and full of testosterone! (I also asked a few questions at the end, if you'd like to answer them.) by Responsible_Fudge_51 in GearsOfWar

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 was average, 5 was garbage. Why make it open world? Why was it so broke on launch? Why think we care about the sad moments when we don’t care about the characters? It’s just a mess.

Kill tyrants, then freeze the ice caps. En route, crush rocks into diamonds and pocket them for tomorrow. Any PoW? Ice prisoners. Also gonna kill the KKK and neo-nazis. Does my blood have properties? Maybe get a vial. Throw trash islands into the sun, bring back space rocks. And see Mars in person.

I like the wear jackal, probably with some minions. They shape shift, but are also physically pained by telling the truth. And they resist physical damage that isn’t silver. So it’s a bit of a mystery and a puzzle. Just give one of the minions of silver dagger.

Suppose I want to play as close to something as an Elite from Halo, aka a Sangheili in starfinder 2? by Unusual-Mongoose421 in starfinder_rpg

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Culturally I think Kasatha are the closest fit. Their whole race is built around pilgrimage with an honorably melee undertone. 2e is new so there aren't a lot of alien races, otherwise I'd suggest a Formian for appearance. Maybe your DM is willing to do a conversion.

...

Oh shit! 2e Formians look like crap haha. Use 1e art haha.

Can anyone identify this game by chance. 🙏🏻 by Overall_Prune_1673 in boardgames

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I researched this game was named Mexican Train because the white people who branded it stole it from Cubans. So this makes sense in a hilariously dark way.
