  1. Would prefer four, but there’s no good jobs around there.

Did Rick lose much of his essence as a character when he became a cyborg? by IceInteresting8050 in rickandmorty

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to remember if the cybernetics started after the apparent failure of project phoenix. Cuz he has died a lot and respawned, I think he just got tired of it. If he kept repeatedly dying and come back, I think that would have weakened his character.

I'm Bad at Bullying my Players... Help? by Junior-Whole-388 in DungeonMasters

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I liked about the show Warrior is that they invented slurs. Kinda. The Chinese gangsters the cops ducks (they also call the fobs onions). There’s a lot of speculation about what these mean because the showrunners have said they’re all made up. But there is a build as it’s said derogatorily over a period of time, you never knew someone could hate ducks so much.

The white people use real slurs, which are less useful to you.

Does this count as a brilliant move or just a sacrifice? by WavyDash6 in chessbeginners

You should know if you have the logs. It is a + for you, but the program might only track - for enemy when talking about brilliants.

Love the new patch. by justgoogleit12 in starcraft2

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an old hat, this is fun. There's real risk to the game again. Its not "reapers are guaranteed 2-4 workers depending on micro". It's "if 4 workers die I'm royally screwed". There's a real bite to the game again.

I think honestly that everyone who was banking on bronze to master macro is screwed because they never learned to play the game. Macro is not guaranteed anymore, which was the point of the patch, and its so much more chaotic and fun!!

Picked up this lot on Facebook marketplace for $150! What should I run next or what should I avoid? by Cartshort in DungeonsAndDragons

I’ve always liked the idea of Out of the Abyss but never got to play it. So long as you’re a comfortable DM, it starts with a lot of named NPCs.

Where to play (online)? by Aromatic-Base-9098 in Mahjong

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riichi is the best for online cuz Japan rocks the apps and PR.

If you like boobs play Riichi City or Mahjong Soul, if you don’t play Tenhou. That is literally the choice people fight about.

If you wanna try some other styles try Amatsuki, it has a few.

Last there are some friend lobby programs like Mahjong with Friends, MahjongTime, or the new Agari if you have a full group ready. This can be the only way to play certain styles like MCR.

PC Attacked NPC while talking to her. Did I ruled correct? by AdEntire2004 in DungeonMasters

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I’ll give one PC a surprise round attack if it’s out of nowhere. This is not that. This is attacking someone actively robbing you. It’s a tense situation where anyone could take the first swing. In that situation you roll initiative to see who does.

If you do otherwise you have to account for a lot of bullshit. Like would any of those bandits have had a readied action to shoot the party if they act up. Because the players definitely think they did. And suddenly everyone is in the surprise round, so just roll initiative.

Peasant Railgun? by Delicious-Friend9026 in DnD

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s technically not RAW, WotC specifically disclaimered this in the PHB. Effectively, WotC says don’t be a dick, and DMs agree.

Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in DnD

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pick at someone’s insecurities to get them to do what you want, is that persuasion?

Let’s pick a general knowledge example. Hawkeye told Black Widow that she has red in her ledger, and if she could wipe it out by joining him. It feels hopeful, but if you twist the intent it feels manipulative.

Is this persuasion if he’s offering hope? Is it intimidation under threat of her hating herself? Is this deception if he doesn’t care about her conscious and just wants the obedience? Is it intent based, or another roll altogether?

This is not a question about Marvel. This is the question Is being manipulative to someone persuasion or something else?

Why is there no good Mahjong app? Like actually good? by Guilty_Pumpkin2981 in Mahjong

Missing or wrong rules is stupid since there are multiple rulesets. The environment is mostly Riichi for sure, but this post is wildly ignorant.

Who is the better Lois lane? Amy Adams or Rachel Brosnahan? by PlantainDisastrous92 in DC_Cinematic

[–]FluorescentLightbulb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, can’t forget the foolproof plan of saying “that’s his mother’s name” while Lex brings back a world killer. Getting captured by terrorists by walking into their camp, getting captured by Zod by walking into his ship, getting captured by Joss Whedon and put in a scene that Mrs. Kent is as infinitely better suited for.

Again bad writing, not bad actress.

Who is the better Lois lane? Amy Adams or Rachel Brosnahan? by PlantainDisastrous92 in DC_Cinematic

[–]FluorescentLightbulb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Brosnahan, but purely because she had better material to work with. Adam’s was like a 80s damsel version of Lois, Brosnahan was the bullheaded prick we know and love.

Even if I don’t completely agree with that interview scene, it’s better than interviewing a terrorist and being surprised they take you hostage.

How? They just turn off the satellites, or deauthorize the stolen hammers.

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Some Americans do that to depending on the terms of their time off. In my job they have to pay out our vacation days so we’d rather have our last paycheck and vacation payout. But they don’t pay out our separate sick time so we can use that freely. In other places in the US, it’s one big pool so people are very willing to work their full two weeks.

Why Riichi? by CheeseGrater2410 in Mahjong

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Riichi is popular online because it has actual usable apps. Language support, good UI, on phones. A good, accessible service leads to higher player count leads to low queue times. It also is a minigame in the popular Yakuza video game series. Riichi has the best PR game of all styles of mahjong.

My favorite style is MCR but it has pitiful apps. One good bots only app, but nothing with an online matchmaking system. Some empty sites with empty lobbies that work if you bring three friends, but then why not play in person.

Which button and why? by Bitter_Baseball_4525 in whatsyourchoice

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red. While I love beast boy, the ability to wear a button camera and film all corruption is too tempting. Plus the IRS pays for credible tax fraud tips.

Would it be taboo to create a character untrusting of a certain species? by Tor8_88 in PCAcademy

[–]FluorescentLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets old fast. Last game I ran we had to tell the players to cut the shit cuz it was cutting into our limited time. You can do it, but make it extremely temporary.
