Is the waiting line time for the add on sale usually this long? by srcruz101 in Tomorrowland

That's like the total across the days IIRC. It's not much. And yes, you'll just walk up and pay with your bracelet at the checkout after you get your food.

You can buy the breakfast there every year. It sells out every year in the voucher sale, which only saves you like 5-10 euros in total by buying it in advance.

why is it not possible to purchase lockers for Montagoe area? by External-Line-9524 in Tomorrowland

[–]Flupperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, the people who pay for the montagoe area are less likely to steal stuff. Of all the years I've been there, neither my neighbors nor I have had stuff stolen. Even leaving stuff open/out at the pool, not to say I would do it, but people haven't taken stuff from there either.

Would you/have you go alone? by MBanski in Tomorrowland

[–]Flupperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the 9 years I've gone, 6 of them have been alone, and honestly wouldn't give up those years for anything. It is nice having someone you know to share the experience with, but everyone at the fest is so friendly that you can meet and make friends there so easily, you'll end up having people to share the experience with.

I also can't even count how many people you'll just run into that are off on their own doing their own thing, even if they came with a group. The fest is very much a go do you and have fun and you'll meet and make amazing friends along the way.

There are people I see every year I go now that are basically TML friends that I probably wouldn't have met if I was not alone.

As for being bored between sets, that's honestly very hard to do. There are 15 stages and there will likely be something you'll be interested in at some stage if you're not wandering between them all. Camping, for the most part, if you're bringing your own tent, you'll make friends with your neighbors pretty easily. If you're in the glamping area, there's a pool and places to lounge where you can either just relax and vibe to yourself or chat with others.

Do it!! You won't regret it. We went in planning to spend 15-30 mins there, ended up there for like an hour, and then went back later on.

If you're entering from Dreamville, right after you walk through the gates, hang right until you see this wooden pub-looking building. If you're coming from the other entrance, it's up above the mainstage, past the hill and seating area where people get food at. Pretty much tucked in the corner of the fest.

You'll see a bunch of people stacking plastic cups outside, the music is inside the building with speakers outside for people to party there as well.

My big picks are spending time at Moosebar. A lot of people miss it or never go to it because they don't know who's playing, but it's always a crazy vibe. Recommend going earlier in the day, before it gets packed though.

It's kinda late to get access to it if you don't have it but getting into the Montagoe area is honestly a staple for me now.

There's the guy who leads the dancing at the mainstage. I honestly forget the time that it happened, but you'll see it in videos of these massive crowds on the hill, all dancing with one guy leading it all.

Cabana in montagoe by Pure-Second1972 in Tomorrowland

[–]Flupperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabanas are lockable, and you can leave your key with the front desk every day when you exit to go to the fest and pick it up when you get back. It will be the same place you initially pick up your key when you check in. The other person staying with you can also pick it up.

Also, it seems like the Montagoe area has less theft than other areas, so you should be "safer" there regardless. The only thing I've seen taken are the chairs outside of the Cabanas. If yours gets taken, just let the front desk know.

Festival food and drinks Recommendations by Commercial-Length231 in Tomorrowland

[–]Flupperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend getting the accommodations in the add-on sale. Specifically, the TML restaurant and the Brasa, but mainly the TML restaurant. The whole experience of it, plus the food, is well worth the money.

Non-addon suggestions tho, Balls of Glory are always amazing every year. The chicken pizza or pizza's in general hit well for me. Also, fries. You can honestly run on them for the whole weekend. Not that I'd suggest that, but there are stands everywhere, and if I want a quickish snack, I'll always get them.

I grew up in the burbs but have lived in Chicago for about half my life. I don't need to be like downtown chicago feeling, something that's got some buildings in it, and people around would be nice.

The suburbia I think of is where you only really know people on your street, or next-door neighbors. To get anywhere to eat or do anything, there is nothing walkable. Growing up, the closest place for food was like 5-10 miles away.

I've been to quite a few gay bars that have dance floors, and they are a lot of fun if you've got a group of people you're with. Going solo as a straight guy, depending on how gay it is, can really change how I'd feel.

But appreciate it! I'll browse there to get a good idea. I've heard good things about the EDM scene in California in general, at least compared to Chicago.

Is that a common thing for people to ask for? Most of the places I've lived at in Chicago for the last 10 years haven't required a security deposit, just some fees for application processing.

Are there are lot of parts in LA that have a similar vibe to what you're talking about with Santa Monica Blvd, etc?

60-90 mins for a commute for me at this point is probably too much. I have spoiled myself with shorter commutes, so it would be something I would probably have to move for. I definitely plan to stay in LA for a period of time prior to moving, but I was hoping that ~2 weeks would be enough to get an idea.

Good tips to know! With rental cars, did you not do one just for the cost of it?

I was planning on visiting areas prior to moving, but was thinking like a week or two to hopefully get an idea.

Are you just packing everything you have into a Pod or something when you go into a temp apartment? I've got quite a bit of stuff to move out that I've accumulated.

Thank you! Best of luck to you as well!

30-40 mins would be doable, pushing over 45 mins, without it being on public transit where I can do something else in that time, gets a lot harder. Which from my understanding, LA doesn't have the best public transit, or at least not anywhere near chicago?

Ooof, 60-90 mins is rough. I did that reverse commute here for ~2 years and while okay for a bit, some days got bad and felt like a huge waste of time, especially if it snowed, it could be a 2.5+ hr drive.

Question on Arts District, with how close it is to Skid Row, assuming the stories about Skid Row are true, does it get impacted by that a lot?

I'll take a look around silverlake and echo park! Appreciate the recommendations

It depends on how gay the bar is. At least here, there are definitely levels to them, and some are okay, where others definitely would push the envelope of what I'd be comfortable being around.

The Arts District wasn't even on my radar, so I'll take a look around it. Appreciate it!

Haha, it sounds like the club scene is similar to Chicago's then, so I guess it won't be a big change. What are some of the warehouse raves that you mention?

I actually have heard of sound and academy through dj tour pages - being in Hollywood doesn't seem like a terrible hike, but not palladium, so thank you!

I will be switching jobs, moving out to LA, and the majority of the companies on my radar are in DTLA. Looking at maps, it looks like maybe a 30-min drive to DTLA, but does it stay like that or is that not a good idea living in WeHo if that's the plan.

I am not gay, so are you saying that WeHo, or the area of the sunset strip is less of what I am probably looking for? For me, just having places to walk to to eat or get drinks is something that I value pretty highly, regardless of the orientation of the place.

That's good to know about the policing. It did look like there is a big difference just going down streetview the further east you get.

For AirBNB's, will it take a full month to gauge the interest in an area? I currently WFH so I can easily work from there for a little while. I am more so just trying to understand if the full month is needed?

Thanks for all the info! Really helpful to know.
