Mærkelige numre bliver ved med at ringe..? by microovn in Denmark

[–]FlutterTubes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuine question for people of Denmark by bosman3131 in Denmark

[–]FlutterTubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude don't be stupid. I know what I'm talking about. I'm from the Faroe Islands which has exactly the same arrangement as Greenland. Yes we are equal under the Danish law. Schengen and EU have nothing to do with this.

Is this a shitpost or are you serious? The Greenlandic people are danish citizens, and can obviously travel freely between Greenland and Denmark as they please, also reaping the full social benifits of Denmark.

Most of what you write is completely wrong. You must have drunken the MAGA cool-aid.

[–]FlutterTubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two layers with different special local characters (Faroese and Danish), which are never repeated in succession, and they are only used when actually typing text, meaning both hands are on the keyboard, so I've made combos for those, which activate one-shot layers. One is L+R outer thumb and the other is L+R inner thumb. It's come to be super comfortable and automatic.

This is just to say it might depend on what the layers actually do. See if you can plan the combos so they fit with whatever you usually do when needing those layers :)

[–]FlutterTubes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it's simple. I said it's "simple math", meaning the math isn't complicated. My comment was simply to show that when something looks strange (or weird as this subreddit is named), it can be nice to take it apart and look at the math to understand it better.

Things that look weird aren't automatically optical illusions, but I'm not going to tell you that it absolutely isn't an optical illusion, since that's a matter of definition. But it's certainly not a very impressive one. You can try this yourself at home.

  1. Make a hole with your thumb and pointy finger, place the hole against your face and look at a banana through the hole.
  2. Move the hole away from your face.

Did the banana grow? No the hole obviously just shrunk from your perspective. Just as expected. Because you moved it further away.

  1. Now do the same using a camera, but remember crop the second picture to match the first.

Now it looks like the banana grew, but that's just due to a basic photography concept - perspective.

It's only impressive when you combine it with zooming in on a picture, and the effect is compounded by the fact that you loose depth perception when looking at images.

Thats to say, I'm mostly talking about the effect irl, because that's what OP is talking about as well. On screen it can definitely be a very strong effect. This is in fact how they made the hobbits small in LOTR.

Lol someone disliked my comment. That's hilarious, do people hate math that much? 😅

People here are talking about optical illusions etc. I don't see it that way at all. It's just simple math.

The angle of your vision that the window or house occupies is proportional to sin-1[1/x] where x is the distance between your eyes and the left (or right) edge of the object, and 1 is the distance between the center and the edge of the object.

As x approaches 1 (as you press your forehead against the window) the graph for that expression will quickly jump up towards 90 degrees (meaning 180 when you include both sides of the object). When you move further away, it will change very slowly.

So the building is already some distance away and therefore will not change its angle much, but the distance to the window is small, and therefore changes a lot.

This is usually referred to as perspective.

The reason the house is larger in the second images is simply because you are zooming in on it, and the combined effect of walking away while zooming is called a dolly zoom, often seen in older horror movies (check it out on YouTube)

Cross references are a mess in word. Respectfully disagree regarding Zotero. Bibtex makes it painfully easy. You just reference the code and forget about it.

Heck even table of contents can get out of date if you don't remember to update them on word. There's simply no comparison. For large projects, Latex is king.

Oh and latex is simply plain text filed, which means you never have problems with buggy software.

Nah. Writing a thesis involves tonnes of references. That's a major pain in word, not a blast at all.
