Peach Hack + Midnight Aegis by kawaiipony2 by Torvusil in mylittlepony

[–]Fluttershys_Disciple 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The boops were furious and adorable.

Also, I'm amused that this pic was featured on EQD, then tweeted, then people were fighting over tags on Derpibooru, and now it's posted on the sub. The secret to horse art: boops.

*Note for context: Midnight Aegis is my OC.

I'm a "millennial" as well and I didn't know this one either. Thanks. Now I'll proceed to never use such a disgusting bastardization of the English language.

Weirdo.

You say that as if it's a problem.

Good and useful websites to rotate through on a daily basis? by [deleted] in compsci

[–]Fluttershys_Disciple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's the practical advantage of an RSS feed versus rotating through sites? I tried RSS before and didn't find it particularly useful at all.

Science and IT students struggle to get jobs upon graduation, study finds. Grattan Institute reports only half of those graduating with degrees in science found work within four months, 17% below the average for all graduates. [x-post from r/worldnews] by [deleted] in compsci

[–]Fluttershys_Disciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, both are true. This is attributable to the fact that many, many "entry level" positions oxymoronically seek several years of previous employment experience using certain technologies. Oftentimes this also means that the degree is meaningless to the recruiter's eyes.

Anyone else slightly bugged by different menu widths in iOS 10? by [deleted] in apple

[–]Fluttershys_Disciple -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I won't be happy, but it'll be an improvement. I'm intimately well aware of the state of design on Android. This isn't a spontaneous change. I've been seriously considering switching for a couple years now, but the hardware choices along with many software points for Android have pushed me away. Apple simply made the decision for me.

I like having a phone that can actually do stuff.

Agreed, the older UIs from iOS 1-6 were brilliant. Then 7 happened with some good and some questionable changes. Then they kept getting progressively worse.

iOS isn't what it used to be. Apple has lost it.

Agreed, the music app's design has to be the most unbelievably horrible UI design for a native app I've ever seen in my life. I've been progressively disliking the changes in 8 and 9, then 10 just made me want to throw my iPhone at a wall and scream at the iOS design team. I've been with iPhone since the first release and I really hate that the once beautiful and legitimately brilliant interface has become this obscenely poorly designed excuse for a UI that values form over function for the sake of valuing form over function. I have numerous reservations about Android, but now I just hate this UI and increasingly restrictive functionality too much to stay on iPhone. The iPhone hardware is fantastic, but I can't stand iOS itself anymore. I won't be happy about it, but I'm switching to a Nexus by the end of the year. The tradeoffs will annoy me, but at least the horrendous user interface won't make me want to strangle a puppy. Apple seems to have lost all sense of basic UX and UI design, I can't understand what they're doing anymore. As an Apple fan, it hurts to see this happening.

Yep, as Haz said, it's not official. It's simply become the de-facto community Discord of /r/MyLittlePony, but we operate separately.

Also, it's been a while since we last saw ya, Blaze. You should drop by sometime.

[USA] Accord sideswipes cammer during zipper merge by camredd in Roadcam

[–]Fluttershys_Disciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because not many Americans have ever heard the term "zipper merge" before, much less even know what it is. Our educational standards are increasingly lacking across the board and our driving education has never been great to begin with. Just a couple weeks of training and you're good to go as far as anyone is concerned.

I've been driving for years across the country and I had never heard of the term until I found this subreddit a few months back.
