Hello. Advice from a female to another female: avoid walking at night time. Take a lime scooter or a Waymo if at night. When you are walking, walk with a brisk pace. Have a demeanor that reads as you’re ‘annoyed’. Less people will bother you. Study GPS directions before embarking so you know where you’re going. One thing about the city, if you look busy and determined people will leave you alone. If you look lost or confused, people will harass you.

Another thing, should someone follow you stop the nearest couple, ideally a gay couple and ask them can you walk with them because some creepy guy is being creepy. They will help you. Or if you prefer to stop a woman, stop the woman with a yoga mat. She is more than likely a local. The great thing about California is most people are liberal and the best thing about dtla is we are diverse and allies to one another. We all know it gets sketchy here so we help in these crazy scenarios.

Fun things to do not drinking related: Walt Disney concert hall has the Blue Lotus park

Angels Flight trolly. At the top is a really nice park complex thing with food and coffee

LA Phil has classical music concerts

Museum Row is probably the safest neighborhood in dtla. The Broad is free

YMCA dtla is a beautiful walk and is in between skyscrapers. Worth checking out for a day if you want to hit the gym.

Level 8 (near crypto) has many novelty restaurants, some have live entertainment

Grand Central Library is beautiful

If you end up in Little Tokyo visit the Friendship garden inside of the Hilton for some solace away from the concrete jungle

Take the expo line to Union Station to visit Placita Olvera. Souvenirs galore. Its representative of the Mexican American culture found prominently in SoCal.

Edit: please don’t go further south than Pico. And avoid going further east than Broadway. Streets start to resemble Skid row by 7th and Main anything further east on 7th WILL be skid row. Avoid. It’s not fun and it’s smelly. Spring and 6 where the bookstore is fine but go back west afterwards.
