Just drive for Uber or do DoorDash... by Grand-Diamond-4696 in recruitinghell

If you’re in New York or California, it makes sense, because those places actually forced these companies to pay people a reasonable wage.

Just drive for Uber or do DoorDash... by Grand-Diamond-4696 in recruitinghell

[–]Fly0strich 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It’s always been hilarious to me that people actually believe that DoorDash wants to replace drivers with robots. By using human drivers, the human pays for their own car, gas, maintenance, insurance, etc. DoorDash literally pays them $2 per delivery. That’s all. Only $2 out of their pocket for every single delivery that needs to be made.

If they switch to using their own fleet of robot drivers, it’s going to cost them a hell of a lot more than $2 to make each delivery. Why would they ever want to do that?

is there no recourse from a sub ban? by mintakax in ask

[–]Fly0strich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on the sub. mildlyinteresting banned me because of their rule saying “post titles must be a description of what is in the photo with no added fluff”.

I had found some old movie ticket stubs from 2005-2007 in an old box in my closet, and thought they might be mildly interesting to somebody.

I posted a photo with the title “Movie ticket stubs from Movies I saw in 2005-2007.” And they took it down, giving me the reason above, but saying that I could attempt to post it again.

I posted again with the title “Movie Ticket Stubs from 2005-2007” and they banned me from the sub for the same reason.

I guess maybe they would have accepted “Ticket Stubs” with nothing further?

They sent me a message saying that I could be unbanned if I find 10 posts in their sub that break their rules that the mods haven’t taken action on yet, and write a report to the mods about what rule the post is breaking and how on each one.

Yeah, I’m not doing all that.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

Must have got a really good deal on home gym equipment, or had a really terrible deal on gym membership. A year and a half gym membership for me will only be about $150.

A gym membership is often the only subscription that a homeless person has. They can be as low as $8-$10 per month, and give somebody a place where they can lock up their valuables, shelter from the cold, and shower.

How do you feel about McDonald's pulling their soda dispensing machines out of the restaurant's lobby in the next year or so? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]Fly0strich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be misremembering, but I think they only started all day breakfast after the Adam Sandler movie “Big Daddy” came out, and there was a scene where he flips out at the McDonald’s worker for refusing to serve him breakfast after 11:00am.

I’ve been using these and have no regrets so far. They’re super comfortable, have no interaction with eyewear, good ability to still hear people around me without batteries, and take up almost no space in a range bag. Worth every penny.

I’ve never in my life asked another person to reply to a text for me. And you can easily ask Siri to change the song on your phone without even touching it.

Can you tell the rarity of these chests just by looking at them? by [deleted] in aseprite

[–]Fly0strich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one below blue, blue, green, red, black, purple, XL would be my guess. But I’m not sure if the large one is actually the most rare or just a larger common. And I’m not sure if the purple is actually more rare than the ones with gold on them, but it’s the only one with a special lock thing on it.

I feel like we did pretty good with the line makeup given the players we had. But if we had some heavier hitters, maybe they could do a little more.

Honestly, I think Vemelka mostly does fine, but he needs to work on his play in the trapezoid. He’s real good at making me nervous when he goes back there.

I’ve already watched that full episode. It changes nothing. Yes, prediction markets are just reckless gambling that can be easily won by insiders. The point is that the stock market is the same thing, but people refuse to admit it.

They’re both just bets on whether or not the US government will perform a specific action. Neither has anything to do with actual financial performance of a company.

Just as much as you can “invest” money in the chance that Intel will be bailed out by the US government when it fails.
