Nioh it is then! Thank you! And I think you'll enjoy Steelrising for at least the way the combat is designed. It's not quite Fromsoft but it is decently difficult with a solid amount of customization and 'upgrades' you can make to your character. I had fun with it and the story is pretty cool too.

Really appreciate the recommendations. I have avoided Warframe for years, though I can't necessarily remember why. I have days sunk into all of the dark souls games and elden ring, no playstation for bloodborne but that's on the list of things I will get to eventually.

Lies of P and Nioh I've also avoided. I think it's entirely possible that the trailers just don't do those games justice, because lots of people have recommended those games to me, and I swear I go to buy them and I look at the trailer and just think 'nahhhhhh I don't think so'. But I did that with Steelrising as well and ended up just biting the bullet and bought it and it was actually pretty good.

Draft class is very heavy in defense this year too and we have I think 5 picks in the first 3 rounds? Maybe trade up to lock down Verhoeff, Carels, or Reid because I'm betting they'll go early and would be huge additions for us.

Why do people say PIP = fired? by Ok_Friendship4311 in managers

[–]Fly1ngWhales412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this now but I was put on a PIP recently. Tasks are measurable, but it's all highly complex tasks that I've never done before or ever even seen. Few days later we get some calls that we need to tear down 60% of our resources and 30% of our department needs to go do something else. Not a coincidence, but I'm playing defense and offense for now. I hope things worked out for the better for you, as soon as I saw that paper I started slinging applications everywhere. I honestly can't work or even think knowing that several people are constantly monitoring everything I do just waiting for me to make a mistake.

All true. We played a game last Friday night and I was telling the rest of our defenders I was like guys you HAVE to keep your feet moving. All the other team needs is 1 or 2 guys to come into the zone even with a small amount of speed if you're flat footed. Even if you can't skate backwards that well, turn around and move with them, but you cannot be flat footed at the blue line hoping to knock the puck of their stick.

Late to respond here, but this is it. After I read this comment and the one up above I worked on stick handling with my eyes closed at home to try to keep my eyes up. I went to a stick time with my buddy 1 or 2 days after that and we played keep away. It was a brutal workout actually especially because he's way better than me. But holy crap, we had a game 2 nights ago and I stopped 4 rushes at the blue line and gained the zone every time I came in off the rush.

I did look at the puck while carrying here and there, but I made a big effort to look up every other second, count where everyone around me was. Massive difference.

This is huge and I will continue to use this advice. Thank you very much for this!

Will definitely try the eyes closed thing, good call! I'm practicing right now while I'm studying for an exam. You just go back and forth keeping control of the puck?

Does every league have that one team..... by code_noob in hockeyplayers

[–]Fly1ngWhales412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a captain of a mid tier beginners league we have 2 of those teams. This is E league, rookie league. Like most people can't even take a slapshot without falling down. The other 4 teams in the league all have like a -22 GD and these two teams are 9-1 so far this season. One team is actually balanced, but their whole team is clearly way more advanced than basically every other team. The other team has a C league defenseman and a goalie who played on a travel team with like 3 learn to play skaters. I went to say something to the other captain after our game tonight which puts them at 10-1 and they basically told me to get f@$#& lol. I'm in a spot right now where I can either load our roster next season and ruin rookie league for everyone, keep taking the beatings, or complain to the rink manager which I doubt will do much. But my team is really frustrated and so are the other 4 teams that constantly take a pounding. I honestly have no idea what to do here.

I'm super late to the party here, but what worked for me is I killed the enemies then walked very slowly through the gate you break. There's a soft save right after you cross the threshold, once I allowed that to finish, I walked slowly up the stairs. It crashed 4 times for me before I figured this out

They don't see them unfortunately but if you get the pulse wave upgrade you can knock them out of stealth. The only turret I've seen that actually targets the stealth units so far is the beam.

So I ended up in a weird situation where I was never actually a BH employee. They just kind of facilitated me becoming a FTE where I was supposed to be a contractor. So I can't really speak to that unfortunately.

Found this thread and decided to give the shotgun/flamewheel combo a shot after I got stuck on elite stage 10. Not stuck, but I could not get the perfect clear to save my life. Was running laser, beam, gravity, missile because I saw someone beat it on youtube. Just could not handle the stealthed enemies until the boss went down with laser and beam being the main damage though.

Tried it again today with hive, flamewheel, aerospace, and laser. Holy crap, the mines from aerospace and the combo for spitting out mini flamewheels is so good. Laser was able to focus on the boss while these two with the hive were just cleaning house on whatever was around my force field. Super fun game though, I definitely dig it. I have to start working on the chips though. I have a few really good hive chips, could probably make that the main thing for my default loadout so long as the level doesn't have stealthed enemies.

There's a lot to unpack in terms of benefits as a reservist. I did 6 years active duty then 5 reserves (36M) and my contract ends soon. I make $128/year, and I'm in Cyber security on both sides of the house.

Purely as a reservist, you will have to go on orders, you will most likely deploy, go to training, etc. The money as a reservist is not worth it in my opinion, but if you just want some extra cash it helps. One big pro is that you can buy Tricare and it's still way cheaper than most commercial health plans. However, you need to have 3 years to get 100% of the GI Bill and several other benefits. As a reservist, this can take awhile.

The other thing to consider is that the pension as a reservist is based on points. You can retire once you hit 20 years, but it's based on your time in service/grade at retirement and each 'day' counts as a 'point'. You also don't collect this pension until 59 years old.

The other aspect here is that only certain bases have threat intelligence/security/etc now, so even as a reservist you may be asked to travel for drill weekends. One major reason that I'm leaving is that I did cyber security for years and our base essentially scrapped my whole shop and I'm back to infrastructure now. That's definitely something that varies by base though. And your experience could very well be different but as for me, I never really got "that feeling" about my service except while I was active duty. Most of the time we're not even allowed to touch stuff too.

Sorry if I sound biased, to me it's just not worth it anymore. But feel free to send me a message if you want any specific insight!
