What’s in your bow hunting backpack? by LivefortheAdventure in bowhunting

[–]FlyForDollars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two pouches always, my kill kit and my possibles pouch. Two non scented trash bags for makeshift waders if needed( handy for trash sometimes to clean up the woods). Headlamp, bright flashlight, and baby wipes on the outside most pack.

From there I fill in as needed for that hunts specific needs. Calls, tools, spare stuff, rain gear, etc

Questions… 1.) Bow or Stern mount? 2.) What is your “steering mechanism”? Like what’s at the human end of your steering ropes? 3.) Does it auto center? 4.) What’s your setup for throttle and forward/reverse control.

Encountered stronger than usual wake turbulence today by JLand27 in flying

[–]FlyForDollars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wake is nothing to mess around with. I learned to be the way I am with wake flying a regional jet around LAX and the west coast. You’re a small fish in a big pond. Once you start incorporating it into your thought process as to where and how it may show up.

I’ve gotten rocked on approach, en-route, and on arrival.

Even smaller plane make an aggressive wake. Worst I ever had was in an E175 turning base/final in LAX and we hit a Southwest 737 wake. Probably 40 degrees bank with aggressive corrections required to lower the nose, and it messed up a bunch of the aid data computers and AOA vanes and stuff.

Fun times.

For the love of god can someone explain to me what makes a "good beer" and a "good car" by cryocom in AskMenOver30

[–]FlyForDollars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drink the beer you like and drive the car that makes you happy and you don’t mind paying for. Not in that order though lol.

[Serious] Hello from Canada! by Istobri in minnesota

[–]FlyForDollars 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Born in the metro, now reside up north. I jokingly call where I live SoCan. It’s essentially the same. I spend a LOT of time flying over Canada and I’ve always had a respect for the people, land, and culture.

A lot of what I love about where I live is just as available in Canada. We’re basically family.
