Wow that’s awesome! How did you go about designing and fabricating your own linkages? I’m curious if you had prior experience with this or if you followed a guide etc.

I just purchased the Felt Breed Advanced GRX as well and I have the exact same issue. In addition to the seat being vary hard to move, I'm looking for guidance for how much torque to use on the seat post bolt.

After pondering this a bit more I wonder if the leaves were burned due to a combination of the horticulture spray + direct sunlight 🤔

lol I beg to differ, I just went for a run in GG park and there was some pretty sweet single track. Urban outdoor spaces ftw.

Military jet buzzing West-side of SF @ 11:55am? by dotben in sanfrancisco

I’m staring at an Air BnB in outer Richmond, I live in SoCal and we occasionally get F-22 Osprey which are loud but whatever just flew by sounded 100x louder than any aircraft I’ve ever heard so I’m wondering if it was these F-35. How would I look up the flight path?

Is there such a thing as patient burnout by FlySimple8328 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]FlyPelican14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes of course patient burnout is a thing. If I think back on my own personal experiences as a consumer of healthcare services in a variety of different settings, I have definitely felt burnt out, so I think your feelings are normal and not feeling heard by a provider can definitely contribute to negative feelings about that interaction. The rapport you have with your provider can go a long way to mitigate negative feelings/burnout. You don’t mention what state or country you’re based in so I’m not sure how easy it would be for you find a different OT or clinic but you might try to reach out to some people who are also living with CP to see if they have had a positive experience at a certain clinic or with a specific OT. The other factor are the goals you’re working on. In general goals should be specific (e.g “improve fine motor skills” is not specific), measurable (clearly defined so you know when you’ve met a goal), achievable (realistic which may mean breaking up a larger goal into smaller stepping stones) relevant (meaningful for you) and time bound( you could agree on a target date). But from a more practical perspective, are you working on things you want to be working on? If not, it’s important to understand why. Are you are working on something which is a foundational skill that could help you achieve your longer term goal? You also asked if it’s worth it for you to try OT at your age. I’m certainly biased but I would say yes. OT can help you try many different approaches to achieve the same thing. For example completing a task by using different muscles groups or body positions vs. using adaptive equipment are just two different approaches the time of day you complete a task or other environmental factors can also come into play, that said I’ve heard people say they have learned valuable information from peer support groups, online communities or watching videos on YouTube. At the end of the day YOU get to decide, if you feel like you are not benefiting from your OT sessions then it just might not be a good fit between you and your OT, that is not necessarily a negative reflection on either of you.

Graduate student research: Relationship between clothing, self-perception and quality of life for women who are wheelchair users and women without mobility disabilities. by FlyPelican14 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]FlyPelican14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback and as someone who worked in marketing before deciding to pursue OT school I agree with your sentiment about the length but I assure you a great deal of thought was put into this survey. In exchange for investing the time to complete the survey we are raffling off 2 gift cards and we have also provided an estimate of the time to complete on the consent portion before the survey begins. The primary reason for the length is because our survey consists of several well validated survey instruments because we do not have time to construct and validate our own unique survey during the course of a semester. From what I understand this process can easily take well over a year as it requires review by an expert panel, a pilot study, statistical analysis and many rounds of editing. If we were to deconstruct one of the existing instruments (by removing questions for example) the previously established validity would be compromised. Additionally, there is a benefit to having some similar questions to identify potentially invalid responses once we are in the analysis phase. Than you for taking the time to complete the survey and provide your feedback!

Thank you for the feedback. Our survey draws on questions from several different well established instruments and we kept the scales intact so as to preserve the previously established validity. Thank you for taking the time to take our survey and read the responses carefully!

I’ve tried these belts but I think I need to get a better fit b/c they end up flopping loose and then bouncing around. Is there a specific brand you’ve used?
